I never did. Never trusted other people’s calls unless I knew they were solid in their shit. I’d use my kestrel to collect readings between stages. On my wrist where my dope print off usually is, I’d have 5, 10 and 15 mph on wind for all my interpolate between usually, but when I started prs I had kestrel Horus and now (for awhile) AB.

So it’s a little bit of a head start but if wind is off for whatever reason, then I can interpolate between my dope card and the kestrel dope. The wind reading struggles, for me anyways, is at ELR distances. I’ve always just been so so with reading mirage and terrain.

Best part was that it was on the consignment rack for a couple hundred off new and still had packing grease on the bolt! It was a safe queen for someone.

Any chance you’ll be running a tall target test on that scope when you go to zero?

I wasnt planning on it. I did use a plumb line after mounting to confirm alignment and any minor variation will have minimal effects at distance as compared to the guy holding the stick in the first place.

A tall target is for tracking error. All scopes have them in one way or another.

Having a level scope is nice though.

    Dammit I hate typing.

No, just shooting in a horizontal and vertical line to establish tracking is kind of like just seeing if there is noticeable error, and maybe measuring. This can be done at different distances, and is referred to as a box test.

Running a tall target, you are at your zero distance more than likely and it is critical to measure your actual distance. So leave the range finder and just use some engineer tape to mark out 100y/m or whatever you fancy.
Shoot group to establish zero, then mark up 10 mils or 30 moa, shoot group and measure center to center of group.

Since you using mrad let’s say you’re measurement between the two groups was 37 inch, but 10 mils is 36 inches at 100y.

The formula for the correction factor would be something like this 10 milsx100yx.03599(constant)= 35.99
Then to get the correction factor divide this number by you’re group measurement...
    So 35.99/37 inches= a correction factor of .9727
That’s you tracking value. You’re not dialing one mil, you’re dialing .9727 mils and you can add that into your firing solution.

I have absolutely hate the boat stages. At one of the Guardian matches three or four years ago, they had an actual boat strung up by three points - that was way easier to shoot off. Those hanging platforms are the worst. By the time you start to figure it out, there is one shot left in the stage.

I went 3/4 on that thing at a 633yrd IPSC(?). Also cleared a 5 target 8-2” KYL stand at 630yrd in 7rds with a double strike on the 4” because I forgot what target I was on. Oops

Ah, boats are a little tricky, but I got absolutely slayed by a polish plate rack at a 2GAM competition.

We did something similar to that by suspending a picnic table from the rafters of the shooting pavilion

Another devious stage we came up required you to tie a Swiss seat, you were then carabined into a rig and suspended from the roof. Your only support was the 8x8 post in front of you. Engage 5 targets from 375 - 675 with 10 rnds bonus points for clearing the targets with rnds left over 90sec, clock starts on the first shot

    funny you should mention that,..

One of our LEOs decided not to use our 25mm line for the Swiss seat and wanted to use his own 10mm,.. We warned him, but no

Took about 10sec from when we loaded the over head rig for him to start yellin in much higher pitch “I can’t feel my nutts!”
“Feck you all, This isn’t funny you guys, my nutts!”
“Somebody get me down, oh damm! My nutts!”

One of the other LEOs in the group says not before we get a picture for the board

Yeah, me and Swiss seats go waaaay back. Will spare the details.

There’s a reason I climb, belay, rappel, etc in my black diamond :)

Only good about the Swiss seat is Aussy style, and I have ZERO reason to do that again. At this point in my physical prowess, it’s ranked right there with fast roping... in the “yeah kids, I’ve done that before” box.
