Hell yeah! Bang for the buck, I love my PST. Just ignore em; you'll have the occasional Mr. Bigshit tell you how you should have bought a S&B, just to be a dick, and remind you how good his $4k scope is.
    Specs on rifle?

:anonymous: But S&B are great scopes

I’ve got a old pst on my hunting rifle. They work good for the money. Whats the max range you are reaching out to?

Yeah, that’s a good deal for a 34mm tube. The eye relief is better than all the vipers as well. I take it you have the g3 reticle?

Ehh the viper PST is a pretty awesome scope for the money. This is my second one so I know what I'm getting. I pretty much run exclusively vortex because I get a killer discount through expertvoice.

It's going on a Ruger precision 6.5 PRC. Nothing fancy, but this is also my second Ruger and they're a pretty good rifle for the money.

I used my last Viper PST gen 1 regularly out to 1200 yards, but I took it to 1760 a few times. Not terrible glass, but I don't have a whole lot to compare it to.

Selling my current rig. Looking to shed a few lbs on my next setup.

I run a TBAC U7 and TBAC bipod as well.

I wouldn’t worry about glass. A mile shot, you’ll run out of elevation before then. The scope comes with 70 moa or 20 mils of elevation. You can count on your zero being somewhere about half of that. You’re dope will be somewhere about 17 mils with a 6.5 at 1 mile. A 20 moa base will be 20 moa/3.438=5.8 mils. So maybe go with a 30 moa base?

Of course you can hold the difference in the reticle too.

With my old creedmoor I had a 40 moa base, dialed all the elevation I had left in the scope and then still had to hold over a little bit. But I got a few hits. I'm looking forward to seeing what the 6.5 PRC is capable of.

Same thing, but with less drop for a few hundred extra yards lol
That’s what I was averaging in my head was MV+average BC. It’s an issue with vortex pst scopes. Not a lot of erector travel in a 30mm tube vs like an SWFA with something like 28 mils in a 30mm. You should be good to go if using another 40 moa base.

I'll probably end up with another 40 moa base depending on where my zero ends up. It's not very often I get a chance to shoot a mile, but 1200 down is easy to find where I'm at.

Yep, non illuminated G3. It’s a ton of scope and the 34mm really wasn't much concern for me, but that price. Really only bought it to push off that Bighorn TL3 I’ve been procrastinating on for years yet again.

@STravis I bought a PST II for a friend during the couple hours that the Black Friday sale and friends and family event overlapped. That site is a godsend. Trying to figure a reason not to order a pelican storm.

Got into a groove and adjusted my process tonight.

    F6E22846-0D97-4217-8A2F-9888467F1034.jpg

Starting with sized and primed brass, averaged 48 seconds per round using a RCBS comp powder drop, balance scale, trickled to the tenth grain, and single stage press.

    Ain’t no such thing.

I was taught to start worrying about my troopers when they stopped bitching.

Happy was time off and drinking, both of which were not mixed with leadership, so I didn’t see it much. I took the fraternization thing fairly serious.

I’d hope. In 20 years, never once seen it not lead to issues. Of course a bunch of turds will probably pipe up now about how they hung out with their soldiers and it worked out great. Not realizing they were the turd NCOs.

Marksmanship competition in GA this weekend at Arena. 8 stages, targets from 100 to 865 yards. Wind between 4 and 20 mph, variable rain. Super fun course of fire, did way better than I thought, including 2 ~600 yard shots made weak side offhand because of some supremely poor planning on my part. Better lucky than good.

Got 4th of 19 in my match class, and 30/102 overall. Learned a lot and got humbled by the 29 above me, especially the open class guys that were wind ninjas. Not bad for using a gun my buddy brought for me, and using a screenshot of the ballistic app on his phone for holdover data. Rookie enthusiasm at its finest. First long range match down.

Walked away with a badger ordnance hat, a pmag, a 20% off a walther lothar barrel of my choosing, 50% off a vortex optic of my choosing, and a half price geissele scope mount. Since I was in the course of buying that stuff already anyways, I saved more than my match fee and plane ticket combined.
