Its boring to shoot off a bipod and bag too, but I love it!

I haven't had the chance to shoot mine yet since I just picked it up, but that's what I hear. I hand load all other rounds but may not load for this one, I hear such good reviews on that match ammo.

I still hand load. I think the 143 and 147 eldm are evenmore accurate. For a factory round those and the sigs are good. It’s just so much cheaper to hand load.

Truth, the money aspect is huge. I'd like to load some VLD's for it, they are by far my favorite to shoot through my 300wm.

    Posting this 'errywhere.

Finalized my mammoth loadout. This is pretty much all of my gear for Mammoth Sniper Challenge Regular Division, so no camping gear needed. I won't list everything to keep the post small so feel free to ask questions. Not pictured is the Amazon Anemometer I found right after reading the photo and the Salomon Quest 4D Goretex boots I forgot to put in the photo.

Total day weight is about 40 pounds, I might eliminate the tool kit and goretex pants to shave a pound or two.

Dude, I was so bummed not being able to go this year. I made it on pre-registration despite it being sold out in like 5 seconds but I’m grounded for a few months after a stupid hernia surgery. My intestines ended up in my nut sac after going too hard on the squats.

I had an inguinal hernia for years and didn't know it. The relief I felt after that surgery was hard to describe. Good luck, heal up!

Wow, sounds intense! I'm not familiar, I did a quick search though.
What are the ranges? Do most carry a gas gun? Calibers commonly used?
I don't think I could lug my competition bolt gun that quick/far, I'd die haha. I did a PRS style competition last summer (my first one traveling away from home club) and or squad drew the short straw, so we had to hike back and forth, a total of 6 miles for the day. I was okay, but the guys in my squad were not ready for it and not happy at all. I had already been running every morning, and my bolt gun was waiting for a new barrel, so I had a much much lighter AR in 224V :D

It’s moved venues and changes owner ship over the years. As far as gas guns...the secondary shooter has to run a .223 or .308, so a lot of teams opt to use gas guns.

Last few years the longest ruck was around 6 miles. So for the regular athlete or not fat guy it’s not terribly hard. Especially if you’re use to rucking.
There are individual needs and responsibilities but it’s still a squad comp. Distances for secondary have historically been around 300-600. So DMR distances. Primary shooter IMO should be able to hit out 1400y but g3 said this year to keep dope to 1150y.

DFA covered most of it, but I'll post my sparknotes version:

Mammoth Sniper Challenge is a 3 day 2 night unknown distance precision rifle and action pistol match for 2 person teams, engaging targets out to 1100 yards. Teams will shoot together, meet ruck pace together over 40 plus miles, and (in tough man division) camp together. I'm in regular div so no camping for me or my partner. This picture encompasses 95% of my needs to shoot such an event.

It's a suckfest for tough man teams, and hard for regular teams. Definitely type 2 fun.

B-Shooter (me) engages targets to 800 yards, limited to 308 or 223 (here) for cartridge. A-shooter (my partner) engages to 1100, open class, must be non magnum, 30cal or less, 3200fps or less, 220gr or less. Round counts are roughly 150rds rifle, 75 handgun per shooter.

I'm running my WWSD carbine for B duty, buddy is running a 6.5 Creed for A duty.

The gamer setup is a goose-stepping 6mm for the A shooter and a 223 bolt gun slinging 80-95gr pills for the B shooter.

    Interesting, thanks guys!

My buddy that does comps with me, is giving me trouble, because I'm little guy and didn't make the December (and may sit out Jan) NRL22 matches- I just can't handle the cold anymore. Maybe I need to challenge him to one of the these types of competitions, where the little light weight guy has the advantages? :D
Actually I sent him a link this morning and his answer was- F all that.

I traded all my hump-n-shoot for a nice crisp DD214.

Civilian sniper competition is still 75% softer than a Wednesday morning in a sniper platoon.

Edit: idk about the army on second thought...I’ve seen some fat part time snipers come out of there.

I'll be doing a proper debrief later on, but Mammoth was good. I learned lots of lessons and have a nice small list of must-buys. I'll be going back in tough man next year.

I heard Hamilton and Murph took it again this year.

Lemme guess, better spotting scope and you want a kestrel with AB and some stage cards to reference your dope, some varget for your temp stability, a magneto speed and a scope with a zero stop? Lol because I was wonder about your gear list you posted, and it looked like you brought a...calculator?
