    I would imagine it has a much shorter wheelbase, which means more forward mass transfer, which means less brake torque required to lock up the rear wheels.

    Yes, it does have a shorter wheel base. Super intersting.

    I have never felt the the tacos brakes to be insufficient. They are quite good. I was a bit pissed when I was purchasing the truck that " it has drum brakes in 2017" but now that I know the details, i dont mind. I actually like 16 inch wheels more than 17s on the taco.

    I also see why the competition can do larger brake packages that allow 4 wheel disc. Alot of these other "trucks" now look like conestoga wagons with 20+ inch factory wheels.
    Great information From a true engineer and not from the marketing department.
