My name is Jon from Colorado. I have a 2013 Toyota Tacoma Silver A/T (114k miles) I work remote so not a daily driver. Just a lot of adventures in Colorado. Everything is 2 hours away min. I’ve had it since 2016. Before that I drove a 1992 Toyota 4Runner M/T (+250k miles). Been scumming TacomaWorld for advice far too long. Finally made an account. I paid my truck off 2 years ago and have been flirting with making upgrades ever since. I finally pulled the trigger and got new bronze method wheels, 0mm offset. New CarPlay, and a pedal commander. I just ordered Eibach Stage 2 coilovers and rear shocks w/resevoirs. Planning on lifting it 2” +\- .5” Also got superspring sumo spring rear bump stops and ubolt flip kit. I plan on hauling a Travel Trailer or Slide in truck camper eventually. I need to throw in an Add a leaf, for the rear lifts. Tossing around the idea of just swapping the whole leaf pack. But that depends on if we go with a slide in camper or RV. So I think for now I will just go with the 2” tuff country add a leaf.

My first an obvious questions are about the black hole that is changing the trucks geometry after lifting. It looks like you can do a bunch of stuff to help out. But I thought of being proactive and starting with 2 degree axle shims to help with vibration. Then if that doesn’t work I’ll get a diff drop kit. And worst case I get the dreaded driver side vibration at 20-30mph and it stops when I’m in 4wd I’ll swap out the needle bearing with whatever that bushing everyone talks about from east cost whosywhatsits. Although the thought of that gives me nightmares after watching videos. I am still running the stock CV joints with 114k on them so it’s like do I just swap those out too. Fingers crossed that doesn’t come to fruition.

    Anywhoselbee!

Any of you 2nd gen crew have any other advice for 2” lifts. Tips and tricks, proactive things to think about. Things you wish you hadn’t done or done. Long story boring any and all advice would be appreciated.

PS the new wheels vibrate at 55/60mph. Hoping the silly gooses down at discount tire just didn’t balance my tires after mounting the new wheels. I have an appointment to check the balance. I’d rather wait until after I install the lift to get an alignment. But anyone else experience this? (Method Wheels 17” BF Goodrich AT 265/65/R17) went from the stock offset (-25? I think) to 0mm offset.

    Welcome to TW.

Well when I had that gen I went with 5100 up front set at 0 setting and added 885. Gave me little over 3 up front, then added rear leaf spring. Also got new up control arms for the alignment.
after I was hit I swapped out the 5100 and 885 with stock coils and went with 3 inch block up front.

With my aftermarket tires ive always had a wobble between 55-60 on both my 09 and 16.

    good luck, have fun
