The funny thing is, I just bought my first ever Tacoma (first ever Toyota too) and it was a 2015 Tacoma. I would regret it except for the resale value. I bought it because of the fanboys jerking off over the "quality" but I'm up to just under 5,000 miles and it shifts worse than my 1995 Volvo with 240k miles on it. I have never driven an automatic truck (or any automatic vehicle) that shifts as crappy as this thing does. Couple that with the fact that it feels like the ass end gets jerked to the left every time you hit a bump at 55MPH or faster (almost feels like you're about to lose control), plus the V6 struggling when you turn on the AC, plus the floaty front end feeling, plus the pulling to the left (yet the dealership assures me that alignment is dead on), plus the extremely loud ticking, and you have a winner!

I love this truck, but also hate it. It feels so much cheaper and poorly made than other vehicles/trucks I've driven.

Change your fluids, mine felt the same with shifting, I changed the fluids and its like butter now. Not something we should have to do on brand new trucks, I went a year before I changed it but man I wish I had sooner. I also felt as though there was less fluid in from the factory than what I put in, and I followed toyota specs for qty

So, you made a $30,000 decision based a tacoma forum?

I agree. Too big for their britches, just like Honda. We still have Toyotas in the family, they are fine for the most part. Just not as solid as the older ones.

We do have a couple of Hyundai that are doing just as well, maybe a little better.

Overall, I'll still take the top tier Asian brands over other choices. And I'll continue to shop for lower mileage, well maintained, used vehicles.

$32,000 decision and yea I did. I made that decision based off of resale value of trucks, what current owners feel about it, reviews from both current/past owners and magazines/websites, issues reported on forums, test driving (didn't drive like mine drives), etc. My other options for a truck this size were a Nissan Frontier (drives like shit and current owners aren't satisfied with it, plus resale value is terrible) and a Chevrolet Colorado (brand new redesigned truck from a manufacturer whose resale values suck and coming off the older Colorado which were absolute junk). Sooooo, what would you have done? I can sell my truck right now and get damn near close to what I paid for it. How did I make a bad decision?

I'll tell you what I would have done and what I did do. Bought a tacoma. I didn't say you made a bad decision, you did.

Where did I say that I made a bad decision? I made the best decision I could have, given what I was looking for. I'm just bummed that it didn't live up to the fanboys hype. I personally think I got a bad one.

This whole thing shouts bad decision. I like your terminology though, "fan boy hype".

Come on now....not a fair statement. Just because most of us have not had experience with our Tacos doesn't make us "fanboys". Besides....this is a Tacoma forum....you're going to get a lot of praise for these trucks. It's the same on any forum.

Anytime fanboy comes into a thread, it's :deadhorse:beating time.

I also love the comments suggesting Toyota/Honda are falling off, BUT THERE IS NO WAY I'D GO DOMESTIC. Get real. I've had plenty of Asian, EEEHHHHH not actually correct, made in USA/Canada/Mexico/Japan/Korea Asian vehicles as well as "domestics" and some of the "domestics" have actually done better :goingcrazy:.
