Long Travel BS Thread

    Lets talk traditional shackles. At ride height, the spring pack preload isn't really going to change (negligible change anyway) as you narrow or widen the shackle pivot point. So just draw a line in your head for the spring pack instead of thinking of it as a spring. The only thing that changes is the angle of the shackle at ride height. As you spread the shackle pivot farther out, you are making the shackle closer and closer to vertical. At completely 90* vertical, it's as high as it's going to go. Similarly as you narrow the pivot point, at 0*, it's as low as it's going to go.

    So now...you do the same exercise in your head with inverted shackles. :p

    Anyone see any issue with mounting hydro bumps at a forward angle rather than straight up/down? i.e:

    I don't have room to mount them any other way unless I get a wider axle or wheel spacers and I would rather not get wheel spacers and I am not ready to buy a new rear axle

    U want the bump to go with the travel so mounting it at an angle wouldn't really be the best option unless it matched the articulation of travel. Use a wheel spacer and mount em vertical

    Id rather keep the factory bumps than use wheel spacers

    Recess them into the frame. Do not mount them at an angle

    They are too long to recess into the frame without the body getting in the way. That was my original plan

    Have u looked at the jounce bumpstops? Expensive but seems like something u would like doesn't require cutting and should fit without spacers

    Oh yeah, I looked, and then when I saw the price I kept on looking:D

    Now, is there some sort of rule of thumb as to how much travel you want in your hydro bumps? Im only going to have about 13" of travel in the back and Ill be using a fox 2.0 air bump so I have to choose between a 2", 3" or 4" travel. I have been figuring for a 3 or 4" travel but the 2" travel bump is shorter so I wouldn't have as many issues with fitting it back there but I wasn't sure if 2" of travel was enough
