    Thanks for the info Jason!
I did a little more research about Defineds kit as well as the kit DMZ is working on (DMZ kit is a month or more off depending on interest) and I think its great that we as consumers have more options! I won't get into who's kit is better and who took who's idea because I have no idea! I just know both companies have very good feedback on Tw and Tora so I don't think either option would be a bad choice. What I really like about the defined kit is you can do it in stages so you don't get slapped with a $6-8k bill on day 1

i think i paid 350- or 400 for them at the end of the day. he had to build two sets because the first ones were bumped slightly too early

Just curious since it was mentioned here, why wouldn't you be able to use OEM shocks on any other SUA kit?

Not sure myself, maybe it's possible but no one does it because you don't get the true benefits? I just know for me it's way easier to explain spending $2-3 k each time than a $8-9k pop all at once!

10k for a leaf sprung rear end is just crazy, I don't care how "pretty" it is

you can ! its just that my kit is built to bump at the approiate limit so you dont over compress the shock. which means that once installed , you wont have to take the leafpack out to tear it down to set bump on your own. the stage 1 kit is engineered to use the stock length shocks and adds bolt on brackets and a nice progressive bumpstop to limit compression to an appropriate level.

it all depends on the installers ability and/or customers budget. my SUA kit takes a lot of labor out of the equation , even when its compared to another bolt in kit.

my stage 1 kit makes an install much easier and cheaper when you dont have the knowledge and/or ability to properly set bump levels.

most people can center the axle, set the pinion angle and booger weld the perches on. but setting proper bump to use with the shock mounts given and making the needed bracketry is way over some peoples heads. this is where paying a few hundred more for something is worth it for certain individuals. its easily installed and gives piece of mind ,all while getting the correct leafpack under the vehicle.

sit back, enjoy the better ride and save up for the all consuming that comes along with the sport. just my basic kit alone will save you hundreds in install costs and even more if you or some friends can do the install. thats like 4 extra trips out to the desert or more depending .

Well I would gloat in the fact I paid less than $1500 for mine, but stepping up to bypasses is going to add to that.

Tyler I had a question for you about SAW's. I am trying to order the wear band for the piston (not resi) from Poly for my 2.5's and they only have it listed as the "resi piston wear band" and it says its made out of teflon coated bronze PTFE. My resi piston has a plastic type wear band and the piston with the shims has a teflon covered bronze wear band. Did they just list it incorrect or do I have the wrong band on my resi piston?

My $8k figure was all new out the door. I know you can save tons of $$$ if you can find used shocks and bumps but I have yet to find someone willing to box the frame for less than $1,000 or build a custom cage that does what I want for under $1,500. If I could weld it would be a much different story for sure. Also the labor to install adds up quick, but if you can only produce "booger welds" like me it's worth it:)

What did sick nicks charge you for your bed cage? $3.5 k for that cage, defined kit, bumps, and those 16 x 2.5 kings is a hell of a deal! Did you have to get your drive shaft modified? It was all the little things that really added up on some of the quotes I got.

Few people on this forum. The quote was to pull the bed and plate it. (Might have been $800 not $1,000 don't have the quotes infront of me) that was plating a long bed from the cab to behind the springs.

I would defenetly get a quote from Sick Nick!!
Ive known him for almost 20 years and he takes a lot of pride in his work. He is one of the best fabbers out there and he does not have a ton of overhead at his shop so he is more affordable. Which will save you $$$

Ok so I was curious about the DMZ making a bolt on kit using stock hangers. so I talked to Tim about it and this is what I was told and I quote from Tim "We will be modifying the existing kits to have a bolt on option. Because of the sexy design, it is a little more work than just drilling a couple of holes in the existing design, but things shouldn't change too much!".
