Well, also planning a 2WD to 4WD conversion in the future...

 

600 would be a tad light, in that case 650

 

2WD and 4WD models use a different base plate on the coil over; 4WD needs to raise the collar to clear the CV axle.

2WD can easily run an 18'' 600 pound spring. Most 4WDs use a 16''. I plan on replacing my 16'' coil with an 18'' coil so I don't preload the spring.

All you want the spring to do is hold up the weight of the vehicle at ride height, you adjust suspension characteristics by valving the shock. A 16'' spring on a 4WD with a plate bumper and a winch needs a lot of preload to maintain a normal ride height.

my driver side has one, it ended up braking the spindle, not the weld. my cracks were in the exact same place.

 

I need the help of the best when it comes to c/o's

I currently have 16" #600Ib springs in Fox c/o's
I have more preload than I hoped for.. (I guess plate bumper?)

just over 2" preload




Im hesitant to crank them anymore, but want a tad more lift up front.
The ? is can I swap in some 18" #600or#650 coils to have less preload?

Will I have problems with Coil bind or any other issue with a longer spring

I have the same cracks in the same spots..I think that's pretty much standard for everyone lol

 

I have 18" 650lbs coils on my foxes. I had the 16s and ran into the same problem. MUCH better now. i only have an inch and some change of preload.

 

Did that end up fixing your angle on your lower uni?

 

I think only spindles or even less preload would cure that.

 

No. That wouldnt change it. Im getting the LSK 3.5" lift spindles and that will make the uniball perfectly level. Pretty excited about it! Nice thing is, you dont need lift spindles if you have spring under to fix the uniball angle because it sits lower than my allpros. Since my stupid allpro lifts sit so goddamn high, i have to crank my shocks more than i like thus causing the bad angle on the uniball
