If you're a tall person, single cabs get a little tight sometimes, at least the earlier years.

And you guys act like ESB Mike is dead or something hahah, Esco Sick Boy is still around talking about black holes and very odd yet hysterically awkward dirty jokes. And from last week, here he is standing on his buddies welder like a boss helping out!:

I meant I need to get another one. Yeah I forget about the cramped aspect, it's good to be reminded cause I haven't dealt with that in a while, especially with seats and a cage.

My first car was a 91 single cab pickup, built an 83 (below, favorite body style) in a storage unit with a 110 welder where I wired into the overhead lighting for power. Blew the locked up breaker all the time but I could flip it back with a long flathead, safety first! a 93 single cab, 87 4runner, 98 extra cab 5lug with a 3.4 manual 5 (should have kept this one), the 05 single cab, and the current 4runner.

Check the sweet custom dash, ready for the switches! This was my 1st full build and the first "LT" kit I made. I think this was around 99. Truck was fun as hell

I betrayed toyota once. right before the 83.
Burg beams and radius arms, I built the bumpers and bedcage, 5.0, 4:56 gears...
Thought I was the shit till I got SMOKED off the line by a girl in a 4.7 tundra. Ha.
Wish I had had the money back then for nicer shocks.
I stand by the fender speed holes, dgaf what anyone else thinks.
And the color, i'll have another tan truck soon.

I remember seeing that black yota for sale a long time ago but I can't remember if you were the one selling it or somebody else. The soft top made me wonder if it was a lowered truck at one point. I'm sure that truck has had a lot of different owners by now.

So I've done enough damage to the core support to start thinking about replacing it with a real engine cage.

I know I still need to tune my shocks more because I shouldn't be hitting that hard with bypasses and bumps.i should make significant progress on that front this weekend.

If an engine cage is in my future should I stick with my 8" shocks or step up to a 10 or 12" setup? No matter what, when I cage it I'm going to step up to bigger bumps and bumping off the spindle/UCA.

Also the engine cage will be built ready for the cab cage that's eventually coming.

Or am I doing this all wrong and have missed something completely?

Any thoughts or opinions? Thank you in advance.

go at least 10" to benefit from a good dual rate set up. Engine cage is a great mod to reinforce your truck. Are you going for a full engine cage or a partial engine cross brace?

I was talking to Kartek ordering my SAWs a couple weeks ago and he was trying to sell me dual rate for my mid-travel. I was like wtf.

I have a partial brace right now. I think the next step is to cut that all out and build a full cage. And if I'm going that far it seems silly to try and keep the 8" shock setup.

Did you have to relocate your master cylinder when you went to 12s?
