3800 lbs curb weight (toyota website for my model) before cage and links. Gas (300lbsish) 2 people (350lbs) Tools and spare parts. 37s and beadlock wheels. a 9" rear end? It all adds weight pretty fast. 6.5K is a high estimate but i wouldnt be suprised to see 6K.

    This!
Even with 200' of 2" .120 wall, that's like 1000 lbs of extra weight, but I thought he was doing a complete backhalf which will remove....probably close to 1000 lbs.

300 lbs of gas is a 50 gallon cell. Is that what you're going to run?

For a structurally sound and solid Back half it shouldn't add much, unless you're adding tubes every which way. Heavy Addition to the rear in relation to what was already there will be the fuel.

I think the other think you need to keep in mind is suspension seats weigh a hell of a lot less than the factory seats. You're right that weight adds up quick, but it also subtracts quick by ditching crap you don't need. Even little shit like a/c compressor, condenser, all that stuff can be removed. Racing is the same whether it's on the dirt or on a track, weight is the enemy.

3.0 x 16 is what we have but that might change if I get 3.5 bypasses

3.0 c/o is unnecessary with that big of a bypass, Springs are more expensive for them and harder to find.

And springs a way more and harder to get. Only time I'd rock a 3.0 coilover is if I was a single shock or had a very very heavy rig and need the bigger spring to not get coil bind.

Here's the pile, I was hoping it was something that could be worked off of but it's just wrong enough, in too many ways.
That's a quarter on the upper arms for scale.
I'm going to do something with it for sure though... clean title, good motor, frame looks good... not sure exactly what yet but i have some ideas, just have to pick one.

The way I see it you will not have any performance gains between the 3.5 and the 4.4 you are looking at. Why spend that money? Put it into something else that will give you gains, you know what I mean?

I wouldnt be building my truck to this extent if i had to sacrifice in a department to get a few hundred dollar more shocks. im just weighing my options that could carry through to the future. To be honest 3.0 x 18 anything more than 3 tube bypasses dont pop up all too often so i was seeing if the 4.4 was over kill. I am definitely liking the 3.5 for alot cheaper. I just want it done right the first time and not realize i under did it and have to lose out.
