Ookkkkk that was not meant in a mean way at all. I was saying it was funny because that was OBVIOUSLY not a stock BACK HALF, I guess sarcasm doesn't translate well on the Internet.

    EDIT: Excuse my ignorance.

 When you refer to "rearend" typically it translates to rear axle in mechanic lingo. And that is a stock axle housing, without brake drums and shoes.

Ah, I misspoke then. I was referring the the entire back half of the truck as the rearend. Thank you, now I won't make that mistake in the future. That is a very nice truck.

yeah the plan is to get a new rear end next year, with the baby and everything else its hard to talk the wife into spending more on the truck. like rj said it will be trussed and the plan is to stock pile parts until everything can go in at once.... and if it breaks then i have a better story to tell the wife to get new..

grabbers are great imo, i have had no problems with them minus being a bit heavy like lembowski said they are quite on the road also which was part of my initial reason when i got them over a year ago.

Normally with a stock rear end there isn't enough clearance for the shocks when you articulate, but it looks like the back half is kicked in so it might work, I would still double check. Some shops only cycle it up and down, never checking clearance from articulation.

It's not that much money for a junkyard 9'', by the time you pay to have it trussed and tabbed twice could have payed for the 9''

Exactly why I ordered a new housing for mine. tires were going to eat shocks at full articulation. Kicking myself a little bit now for keeping the frame but oh well.

Is your truck a manual or automatic?
I gave up on my Detroit. Unless I powershifted, every time I shifted gears the Detroit would unload at the exact same time and feedback all the way to the gearbox and I'd end up grinding gears. It got to the point that I would clutch, and hold the clutch a couple seconds before I shifted to avoid the grind. Ditched it after that.
If it's a manual, IMO, spool it or ARB.

Automatic, debated the spool for awhile but after driving the other prerunner around for a few hours I opted against it. Great for a Race Truck, eh in a DD. An ARB is still a possibility, havent had the third built yet. Even with an ARB in the old rear end I almost always ran with the rear end open and never had any complaints.

Don't get me wrong, I think the Detroit's have their place. Honestly it wasn't even that big of an issue....until I was back in San Francisco for a week. Then I hated the thing. The detroit in a DD/city situation suuuuuuuuuucked.

Its only going to stay a DD for a few months after its finished as i imagine driving a linked desert rig on the highway is going to get really old really quick, just enough time to give the bank account a breather. After that it will be getting stripped down again for some more "improvements" ( :spy: ) and will probably spend the majority of its time on stands, i tend to over prep. Front diff will be getting an ARB.

yea thats why the new frame is kicked in, the coils would rub on the frame with mild to heavy articulation so this clears up another 3-4" of space with where the new frame rails sit.

    i want that camburg housing.....

Should be 3" IIRC. 2.5" for the leafs and 1/4" on each side for bushings

I would call TC, I think their shackle pivot is wider than the leaf pivot
