Any of you 2nd gen guys with +3.5 kits have your width handy? Outside of tire to outside of tire. Would be helpful to have your tire size and wheel specs (including spacer width if you are running one) as well. Thanks!

Factory WMS to WMS for a 2nd gen is 65" right?

You can get the Military BFG's for $150 each, 75% tread or better. Groove them how you like...this will be my next set of tires for sure. The drawback is that they are 16.5's, but I like my TWF beadlocks a LOT. Maybe not the best street tire/wheel combo ever, but super tough. I haven't had a single flat (with the military goodyears) or bent/broken rim with them in 30,000 miles (most of which are dirt miles). In fact I'm redesigning my bed cage because I see no reason to carry two spares anymore. Keep in mind I went through 8 KM2's and several rims in 7000 miles before getting these. I am not easy on tires.

EDIT: I am at 91" outside of tire to outside of tire. 3.50" backspacing, 1/2" spacer on each side. 37x12.50x16.5

When you say you are running Military goodyears, are you running the new MTR's or did you get some of the older MTR's off of an actual military humvee? haha or are you running some other tire? I've seen 3 different tires on our humvees. Goodyear MT's, 1st gen MTR's and on the newer uparmored humvees you can find some 2nd gen MTR's here and there.

Oh and I already knew your width, but I PM'd for some other specifics:D

Wait so when you said 3" BS before you meant total with the spacer? I thought you meant the wheels were 3" BS themselves... haha

yeah old school. I looked up the code on the sidewall and mine are from 1992! lol, still hold air though. We also used a bias ply back then that is garbage though...the new uparmor hummers all have the BFG baja's.

My spares on mounted on pro-comp steelies I got from summitracing. They are cheap too, but don't look very sexy. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/pcw-52-65883/overview/

Maybe some of the newer ones are better, but I have heard that 16.5" wheels have a really poor inner lip and like to throw beads all the time...
Damn! I have yet to see any BFG Baja's on humvees yet.

1/2" spacers take care of it. I would also do longer ARP wheel studs though, the stock lugs are pretty short anyway.

Also, 16.5's have a 15 degree bead. It's flatter than a "standard" safety bead tire, but very common in the heavy equipment and trucking industries. The reason it is more flat is to support a heavier load. Big rig tires will also pop a bead pretty easy when aired down compared to car tires. Another benefit of this design is you can change the tires yourself. No need for a tire machine, just a breaker bar. Easier than a dirt bike tire for sure. The TWF beadlocks are also capable of being changed on the trail, just need a 3/4 socket!
