Still a bit confused on the shocks though. So you have to run a LT shock? And if so, is there any way to mount it without cutting up the bed? I don't mind a little cutting though. That engage bedsaver kit it nice.

 

YOU could just get a shock hoop for the rear if you dont wanna cut up the bed

 

So you can run stock shocks in stock mounting locations until you have the money to get a bedcage and some better longer shocks. but your kit won't get to take advantage of getting the added up travel because the stock shocks will bottom out. (The kit will come with poly bumps and a spacer so you don't bottom the shock out) But once you get a bedcage the whole rear will be able to take more up travel because the bottom of the shock body is higher up. One of the reasons you do bed cages is because you gain more up travel which then increases the total travel that the rear is getting.

For example my rear pulls 17.5" of travel. I have 7.5" of up travel before I'm fully bumped out at ride height (Thats factoring how much my poly bumps smash down) That means I have 10" of down travel. If I had shocks in the stock mount locations I might be able to get that 10" of down travel but because the bottom of the shock bodies are lower it would not allow for that added up travel that I gain by having the longer shock mounted higher up.

I hope that that sorta makes sense. Its hard explaining it over the computer.

Yes, you can have a shock hoop made and run them like that. But its better to have some type of cross brace going from one hoop to the other to make it more rigid. Mike has shock hoops and made a removable cross brace for them. He is running his shocks on the inside of the frame rails if I remember right.

 

So say I do this defined SUA and engage's bedsaver kit with smooth bodies. Will I need glass bedsides?

 

Mike isn't running them. He cut the inside of the fender so the wheel stuff perfectly in there without them. but you can run them if you want. I would talk to him more about it just because I really didn't get a good look on how exactly he did it. and I think it also depends on tire size.

Mike is mid travel up front and he flies through the desert. He is nuts lol he goes way faster then i ever would until I get a cage inside the cab. He has king resi and TC ucas

Not really. I don't think you'd gain anymore travel. Also cliff's were hitting his coils at full droop with his ex. Travel Icons.
