4.0L, 35's and 4.56 gears... Wish I was at like 4.88's or even in the 5's for around town. I'm alright on the open highway for the most part but sometimes racing the semi trucks depending how steep the grade is. Can't imagine with that thing though!

My yota will flat out smoke my ford in seat of the pants power testing! LOL

What do you all think about 5.29s with 35s and a 5 speed??..was gonna go with 4.88s..but found some diffs read to swap already for a good price..

I don't know how the transmission ratios cross over between years/models but I'm on 33's, 5.04s and a 5 speed and I love it on the street. If it was purely dirt I'd go lower still though. That's with a 3.4L behind a '89 5 speed trans. Like I said, no clue though if that's apples to apples at all.

My old off road truck was a single cab 94 toyota pick up with a 3.4 5vz motor. That truck was a rocket!!
The motor fit pretty good. Just find a good wiring guy that knows what he's doing and you are dialed. I ran that truck for a couple years with no problems

 

I am off of the 101 near the us 60 and Peoria. Will have to get a dirt trip planned and see how that thing handles.

You guys ever have a wheel bearing go bad silently? I have some play in my front end that I can't attribute to anything else but I'm not hearing any "roar" of a bad wheel bearing. Granted the mud terrain tires aren't exactly quiet.

 

Nice, I'm working out a deal on a 3.4 right now so hopefully I can get that going and start doing some work.
