I really don't think its a big deal just grab a sledge hammer and a piece of pipe. Put one end on the tab and beat the crap out of the other. Then go to an alinement shop and get it straitened out. I doubt you bent the arm its self

That was being pushed into SCORE tech inspection at the 2009 Baja 1000. What you see is exactly how they designed and built it.

My LCA mounts are reinforced with 3/8" cold-rolled steel welded to the cross member. These plates also serve as my alignment tabs and should never give me issues.

There's 8 of those on my truck -- 1 for each mounting tab.

oh yeah, i'm sure the arm isn't bent, and bending the mount back should be no problem. i'm just thinking about how best to reinforce it afterwards.

nice. i would normally use this as an oppertunity to get the kit from total chaos, but i have another wheeling trip this weekend, and would rather have it fixed before then. i don't have any 3/16, but i have a ton of 1/8. i figure that will be enough since my truck hits the rocks a little slower than yours

i'm also thinking about something along these lines for a little extra. beneficial, or is a gusset a waste of time in that location?

i would love to make a removable skid/cover for the alignment bolts themselves, but i haven't figured out a design for that yet.

An extra gusset can't hurt. Mine have held up to a high-speed impact that mangled a gusseted spindle without budging, so for now I'd say what I've got is adequate. :)

As for protecting the mounting tabs, BudBuilt skids already have that covered.

    IMG_0407_06a86e765ca788f758ca6ed275cca28896f7d090.jpg

From what I've seen, Bud is the only vendor that protects the critical stuff like that. I have no idea why nobody else has stepped up in that area but it's the reason why I'll only run his stuff to protect the underside of my truck.

People love to run bumpers and skids that narrow from top to bottom like the trophy trucks. TTs are like that because the suspension pivots at a center mount. On our trucks, that kind of setup is for looks (and bros) only. A wide bumper and skidplate is needed to protect the radiator and suspension mounts.

i've got the wide enough bumper. i'm actually going to be taking it off and reinforcing the entire thing shortly, but you're right about the skids. it's a ton cheaper for me to adapt and strengthen the current skid than get a bud, but once this one is toast i'll be getting the rest of the buds. got a bud built gas tank skid coming my way next week, but that doesn't help the current situation

i thought the shocks you were selling are the 14's..?

so you're going to keep using the 12's? were you able to fit them outside the frame rails?

    THats a fuel tank. lol

This is what we use brand and style just the wrong shape

    http://www.fuelsafe.com/store/off-road/or125tp.html

Its a pain because there is a clamp in there that holds the top plate to the bladder and its two parts and you have to hold it just right to get the two parts to bolt together. Oh and we still had a shit ton of race gas in the thing lol I finally got the smell out of my nose

Ah yes -- how to hold the nut ring in place while bolting everything together. Definitely blows, and makes you never want to open up the cell every again. "Sending unit's not working? Screw it...the odometer still works!"

Yup, Thats what we said when we were leaving. My hand is small enough were I can get it through the fill hole on the cell so we will do the method next time instead of un-bolting the nut ring
