All vehicles are on a rotating basis where your renewal form will say "test only station or the new star certified station only. The new star cert test is focusing on more time on visual inspection for out of place components.
I am about to go in for my smog and only have to swap in the oe airbox so far.
So now you may need a second friend...

The guy who bought my single cab off of me offered to let me register my new truck to his address, in a neighboring county where there is only smog once per decade. Other than being pulled over and having registration to one address and a license to a different address (which could be relatively easily "explained"), are there any risks to this? I'm seriously contemplating taking him up on the offer, even though I have all stock components that are ready to swap back in (as i previously did for this most recent smog)

I'm pretty sure it would just be his address, with my name still on everything. Otherwise I would be opposed to the idea.

Anyone have a cnc plasma? I'm looking into getting one and could use some recommendations. I want to build a front kit and links so why not?

Yeah...bribing a dmv official sounds super sketchy, I wouldn't even know how to begin that request...

Yeah the main reason I want to register it there is for the fuel cell, but also because I'd like to run headers and potentially a cam. however at that point (internal mods) i might as well swap to a 3.4...

He said that the only downside is I'd have to pick up or have him forward my registration stickers and renewal notice annually, but fuck honestly that beats 80 bucks for star smog and all the other b.s.

a smog tech or DMV official? I think you're confused, hard sell to pass a visual without cats on an OBDII system vehicle.

Haha headers and a cam are way easier to do than an engine swap

obviously... but the gains to effort ratio just doesn't seem to be very good. not to mention I'd have to rebuild other internals (200k) on the motor. Id rather get headers that I can resell and flog the piss outta this 22re 'till the time comes for a 3.4. As jeff said, seems to be the best bang for the buck. From what I've read wiring the damn thing seems to be the hardest part...
