Yeah im actually contemplating Oregon for spring of next year, have some family up there and it seems like a nice place to live. CA is cool and all but I sure do get tired of all the b.s. sometimes. Thats crazy though, I've never seen one of those checkpoints. Pretty ridiculous.

Oregon is pretty bad ass man. Dunes, trails, desert, mountains...ok the beach sucks compared to socal, but we don't have any sales tax!

Ehh, i'll take freedom over being able to go from the mountains to dry no-where.
I actually had a cop wave at me the other day, first time i've ever been waved at by a cop that wasn't on traffic duty (in CA)

I think that's WA that doesn't have income tax

Yes, yes we do have income tax, but it's not as high as California.

True, that's why they all come to Oregon to go shopping. Best of both worlds.

Yeah. I hear Oregon has some nasty property tax though to make up for the lack of sales tax. I have no idea how it compares to Cali though.

So is it uniballs that make the clicking sound?

The bypasses make the noise, and the uniball transfers the noise to the cage/frame, making it more noticeable, with the rubber (or poly) bushings the sound gets dampened by the rubber (or poly).

Pacific Northwest is the only place I like going to on business. Really only place I'd think about leaving California for.

No, but they do carry the sound. The bypass tubes have little ball bearings inside that click the port closed when the piston changes direction. That sound is carried through the shock body into the mount, and if you have a cage it is amplified through the cab. I just insulated the shock from the cage. Problem solved.

(EDIT: 95taco beat me to it. )

How loud they are also depends on the design, so each brand has a different sound. My SAWs are almost silent but my kings are crazy loud.

Radflo's are louder than kings, for sure. Maybe twice as loud. Could just be the acoustics of my jungle gym too.

Hmm, now I'm curious about where my clicking is coming from

Yeah it blew my mind too, I thought they were testing cal trans vehicles in a horrible place, I'll refuse and when they do mess with my truck I'll sue them because my smog is compliant, lol then I'll by a turbo with the money :)

Also different shock companys use either Metal or a special Plastic for the check valves. I know i have metal ones in my kings and with my rear shock towers and no cab cage it clicks very loudly. But with closed windows its not too bad becuase its clicking outside in the shock tower.

    As shown here... lol

Sounds like mine, but I have steel valve checks and steel valve stops. With the light springs its like my bypasses are yelling at each other.

I hear you, my kings in the rear have a tube right above ride height, washboard sounds like a drum line. Nothing compared to our old race truck though. King 3.0 6 tubes on a single cab, linked with no back window. Made your ears ring through the helmets ha

Fox offers a rubber grommet that sits on both sides of the bearing, much cleaner and that way the shock can being installed as it was intended. just an idea. I am not sure how the bushing is holding up, but I would hate to see it fail and wad up the top cap.. It would be a night mare trying to replace it, with out clocking issues.

King offers steel and plastic check valves to cut down on the sounds, but the plastic does tend to get gummed up if you really use the truck, but great for the daily driver and occasional off roader.
Did you check your check valves when you did the rebuild on the SAW? Not sure but I think they only offer plastic.. Hints why they don't make a bunch of sounds.

    Anthony250 beat me too it.
