what numbers are people trying to get out of leaf springs? from ride height to bump? since droop can be strapped @ shock limit

this truck is BA leaf sprung

I can see how tedious it could be changing out leafs or having them rearched.

For those who take your truck out once or twice month, how often do you rearch your springs. Even for those who race, how many races do you rearch.

I vaguely remember Helton saying he had deaver do it after every race

I know everyone's circumstances are different and you'll never catch me trying to pawn off my opinions as facts. I don't believe my opinions equate to truth, just things as I see them.

It's a generalization, but I feel like there are a lot of dudes out there who are sitting at home wanking to internet 10's that most of them will never be able to have and likely wouldn't know how to handle if they got them. And all the while they've got a perfectly willing 6 or 7 in their garage ready and begging for the D.

I am perfectly happy at this stage of my life with my 7, and I can't wait to give her 300 miles of the D all over Jean next weekend!

That video is my good friend Jeremy Henderson. He has a 2013 4.0 Engine in that. It is a beast.
And Yes Matt Helton re-did his springs after every race with Deaver years ago. He was running f-67's then. (MDR days)
Jeff at Deaver does my E-30 pack after 2-3 races. Depends how many miles the race was. If your not racing, I don't think you need to worry about getting them re-arched for a couple years. IMO

I've got a little question regarding long travel:
Obviously the intentions of long travel is more high speed driving; and does this very well.
Butttt, I'm curious how long travel does in slower, hilly, rock climbing type of driving?
Any one every do both with a LT setup?

i do both all the time.

4wd LT baby. best of both worlds.

does great in rock crawling, gives you the flex you need to keep your tires on the ground for traction.

the valving/spring rates woiuld need to be different, to do each just as well as the other

Jason (jberry813) does. I do a lot more rock crawling than high speed stuff but I am only LT in the rear and haven't got to do a lot of crawling with the LT rear yet.

    not necessairly..

spring rates only hold the truck up, so it should ge the same.

and when you go slow valving doesnt come into play because the suspension isnt going up and down really fast, its going up and down slow so the oil doesnt even go fast to be able to do anything... i hope that makes sence.

For the record, the limitation of the TPF truck above is NOT the leaf springs, it's the motor. That's as fast as the motor will physically move us. I'd be comfortable going faster thru every section in that whole video.

Wow. I know exactly where all these spots are and have ran them myself. Apparently it's back to the drawing board for me when it comes to valving. Kudos. Hope you can give me some tips!

Gotta ask DTF, he knows all. pulled all my stock front suspension off. As far as I know we are knocking out the the links first

I'm going back to work finally so fuel cell and rear 14" coilovers are coming soon.

A Lap?!? I rode the entire first day, hungover off my ass I might add hahaha Bikinis in Laughlin did me dirty.... I did a couple laps with Peter at the MORE race in July too. I love Chris's truck, like I've told everyone, its literally too simple to break, if that truck DNFs its 100% driver error.

Thanks Jason, it turned out good. Were gunna change a few things around down the road but you dont see too many 4 seat linked trucks these days.

its true tho, if you're not willing to spend the big money these days you simply wont be competitive in 1450. Its not what it used to be which is sad. I love watching the old videos of what the sport was, these days as was said if youre not linked with a V8 no one gives a shit.

    +1

I just went through learning this. I was like you and worried the usual LT spring rates/valving would not work for 4x4 crawling. As said by others everything works fine. I have 600 lbs springs under a v6 and find them to flex well after they broke in. Initially they were way too stiff. The first test drive I thought I had made a big mistake, but ~2 weeks later the springs were flexy just as I had hoped. The compression valving dose not come in to play at low piston speeds so no worrys there. The rebound valving however does effect rock bashing, but unless you are dedicated, trailered rock rig then normal rebound will be fine. In fact I find the generic FOA rebound to be quite a bit slower then my old shocks.

Oh ya, forgot about the first day... and that's why I don't go to Bikini's or hang around the #linked #V8 pissing contest too long.
