    Does anyone have pictures of a fabricated rear cross member? I figured I'd check in the LT thread since you guys tend to hack things up more than others.

    I'm planning a flat bed build and want to remove the rear cross member so I can bring the CG down a little bit. I'll be placing a jobox and auxiliary fuel and water tanks under the deck and the center cross member sits too high. Any pictures of custom cross braces will be appreciated. Just trying to get some ideas.

    I just cut it out and put a piece of 2"x3" tubing at the back of my towers. Then just plated and boxed in the frame. My bumper is sturdy enough it should hold the rear just fine.

    I will let other post their custom crossmembers but I will share that you need to tack weld a tube, keep your frame towing hitch on or do something to stabilize your rear frame section as you build your new crossmember.

    When we did a custom crossmember on my old truck we could move the ends of the frame with out hands. That's how flimsy the stock frame is.

    Box the frame and build your crossmember at the same time and you should be set.

    Thanks for the picture Brady. I don't think I've seen your towers before, damn!

    Good advice. I am planning on building the rear bumper/receiver/recovery point before I cut out the stock cross member. I'll be sure to tack in a few retainers before I hack it out.

    I have 600lb 16 " coils on my 8" SAWs and like3.25" of preload but my front end still sits to low. SHould I step up to 18" 600lb or go 650lb?

    Longer spring won't do much but give you more preload, Need to step up in rate.

    ^^^^this. Longer spring will compress the same, potentially causing coil bind.

    So I've been chasing a sound for a while now. I guess its time to share with the class:

    //www.youtube.com/embed/0LEcjzKqbFM

    Listen for the bassy twaing like a bow string half way thru. This only happens on slow almost full lock turns either forward or backward but more often backward. I can feel the pop thru my firewall on the dead pedal. It resonates thru the whole cage as Ive seen on other videos.

    I have footage of all four corners and nothing is moving enough to make that much noise. I have footage of the whole rear suspension, top and bottom of the front suspension and nothing is physically moving incorrectly when the noise is heard. I have shots of my transmission and that looks correct. Steering is solid, UCA has a little heim wobble but not when that particular pop occurs.

    If its not the suspension what else should I look for?

    Thank you in advance.

    (Yes i know my heims are worn, replacements are coming asap.)
