    Sorry whos rylee??

My thinking right now is that im going to get the defined kit installed since I got it for free with my truck, get my bedcage all set up and run this kit for a while and mess with valving the shocks and running some weight in the bed. If I decide its unbearable I'll sell it and go with a different kit.

If I had the cash instead of the kit I would definitely be going with something else. But I only have another week or two in california to get my kit installed. If I had more time I would sell the defined and get something else fabbed for me but any other kit I would have done to my truck would be when im back in town and in that case my truck would be getting worked on instead of being out in the desert for the short time ill be back.

Front long travel custom: king 10" CO, solid lowers, fabbed spindle, heimed everything ect. Rear still in progress, waiting to be put on: bilstein 9100s, T100 axle. Stock 3.4 engine, 4.30 gears.
I would suggest doing it the way you really want it the first time, even if the rear has to remain stock for a little longer. Save the install money and be happy in the long run.

If you run the defined kit, mike the owner of defined engineering, said you can only run 14" shocks max.

I ran 16s with my defined kit and it worked fine but I was deffinatly not using the entire shock. IMHO go with a full 62" kit if you want to go SUA....or link it ;)

You guys may be right, I'll post up the defined kit and see if there is any interest.

On another note got some wheels and tires off craigslist and took off the bumper, truck looks much better so far.

Total Chaos 5 lug long travel kit, Fox coilovers. Mcneil fiberglass. Defined engineering sua, 14 in kings, Defined shock hoops rear. Weathertech digital liners and vent visors. Paint match grille and added fogs. 4.56 gears, detriot truetrac LSD (gear type), LCE header, URD 2TR supercharger.
I gotta say, i was thinking like you.. I bought the defined kit because it was easy and cheap install. I got the defined shock hoops used from another member on here, and he told me i wouldn't be happy with the kit.. I had the shocks valved by a reputable shock place who was familiar with the kit.

The kit is incredibly stiff on road. I have 200lbs of cinder block "test" weight in the bed and it hardly squatted the truck and only smoothed it out a bit.

I've only taken it offroad once with out any weight in the bed and it was totally undrivable... It was a bit better with the weight but not much.

I'm going to give it more time to settle, maybe remove a leaf or two, But im back to researching the DMZ kit and others.

Problem now, is I've cut up my bed and with a new kit and bed cage the holes may be different and the really nice fabricated lower shock mounts will most likely need to be cut off..

On a cooler note, i will be installing the TC Front 5lug long travel kit sometime this week or next. Totally stoked on that.

So question, why did you pass on the awesome fully built Tundra for this Tacoma? Doesn't seem like the previous owner did the appropriate maintenance and basically just bolted on a front kit and glass.

You can sell it here. Great for a midtravel set up. But you'll get no where near the new price. If he gets a grand he's lucky.

That process will work. But depending on how long the uniball has been in the arm or how tight the uniball cups are it may not go that smooth. May require a lot more hammering to get them in or out.

Yeah im selling it and doing it right, you guys are right!

The tundra was super clean for sure, just didnt seem like the right truck for me, and I realized I would be really cramped with an extended cab especially with driving the dogs around. The tacoma was neglected on maintenance as far as a long travel needs but everything else was maintained pretty well, and the price I got it for reflected some of the maintenance and what not. I dont mind doing the work, makes me feel likes its mine instead of someone elses built truck.

Or at least some gussets. In fact, you'll be needed a lot of gussets now. Lol[/QUOTE]

Spindle gussets, cam tab gussets, and shock tower gussets, are in the very near future before it gets driven hard.

Appreciate it chris! I'll probably take you up on that, lets do it!

    My defined kit works great.

But I have a plate bumper, rear mounted winch, hi lift jack, shovel, and 33" spare in the back.

I even added the extra leaves. It was squatting too much when I put the roof top tent on.

I'm sure the DMZ kit performs better in the desert. But the defined pack has worked fine for me on a wide variety of terrain and a wide variety of loads.
