That's what I meant when I said, you don't really know how much preload is in the shock.
preload is measured once the coil and the preload ring touch, so you may have 10 threads showing before you have any preload. does that make sense?
if not shoot me a call.

I have nearly 45K on my STOCK gear set. The original set was replaced under warranty before 60K. Lot's of hard dirt miles but I'm really easy on the skinny pedal knowing these gears a probably a time bomb. I'm ready to regear and rebuild but after reading how many miles you guys are not getting and the $$ spent I may just wait.

Being 4x I kept my springs where the collar barely touched the spring, basically no preload. Keep them cvs at a happy angle :)

I blew one diff a while back, but that was partially my fault. Had a regear from a shop that did a horrible job and then had it redone (cuz of a loud whine) by Yotamasters and it's been going strong for quite sometime now! But my 3.4 don't hit like ur 4.0s do :pout:

So the few of you that have been in this section for a while know I have been talking about selling my truck for a long time now. Well finally I am getting serious about it. Going to do a little maintenance, a good cleaning and fresh paint on all the tube work and its going on RDC and CL. I really want to get an FJ by the end of August.

So my leafs are finally clapped out so time for new ones. When we originally planned on a 50T pack when we started the rear but I dragged my feet alittle and Allpro stopped selling and ran out about a week before I tried to order (like 3 years ago). I am probably to heavy for F67's to last. So what would the best Deaver Alternative be? Is an H70 my best option or is there something better these days?

Here is an pic of the bed and I also have an aluminum jack in front of the tire now and will have storage boxes on either side of the spare with tool and recovery gear.

    Thanks for the help.

the new pack from deaver would be the E30s they dont make the h70s anymore. the e30s apparently hold a lot of weight

Are e30's the same thing as a H70's though? If not has anyone put them on a 1st gen Taco yet?

ATO front skid (need more but icon's might fail if I hang anything else from my truck) All-Pro front bumper thanks to a good deal here and a pesky encounter with a rock or 20, total chaos uppers.
After my last trip in the dirt the stock fender flares were pretty much finished. Added glassworks fenders and rattle canned them and I have to say I'm pretty happy with the results. Didn't want to spend the extra $$ that could be better suited for the front kit.

    Lots of expensive shit
I don't know how you guys have so many issues with gears. I have several 1st gen tundras running 4.88s and never had an issue. All have been Motive brand. 2 of them are running 35s with over 70k miles on them. I'm running 5.29s in my race truck with the same diff and never lost a set of gears. I have about 10 customers running the TRD LSD with Motive gears and no issues. And I have some customers that beat the hell out of their trucks.

I'm kinda in the same boat. Thinking about selling my Taco and building up my 2010 FJ. Just not sure how well the FJ will do as a replacement to a full LT truck.

Yes they are the same. They were previously called the H70 now they are relabeled as E30. And not but i would bet they would be close to the 50T . I just got a used pair lovin them.
