If all your doing is fire roads/trails, and some crawling you should never have the need to go full lt. If you think you might hit the desert, dunes, etc, then well you know...skip the MT.

Sorry guys lol I'll look into the mt front/long travel rear. The point of my question really was if 35s would fit a 3.5 lt kit with out major surgery on the fire wall

Sure you can. Just don't turn, and you won't have to trim anything.

The 2,2 is the compression on that chart and the 40 is the rebound, sounds pretty close on what you should have on the front

For those who are running tens with dual rate, what are your spring rates? Also what would be a good valving specs

you can fit 35's on stock suspension, the big issue (at least it was for me) was that the tires will rub the frame you can move the firewall; the frame not so much.
do what's been said mt front lt rear and 33's, also could run a lower backspacing rim to gain trackwidth

whitetoblack is running 500lb over 600lb. as i understand it the upper spring tensions the lower spring and isnt "true" dual rate

There are lots of ways to set up dual rate.

A 10" coilover is pretty much the shortest shock you can run dual rate springs on (for front engine extended LT A-arm style suspension)
On 10's People generally use a short tender spring and a taller main spring.
    Like a 4" 500lb over a 16" 600 or 700 lb main spring.

The formula for dual spring rates is below.
This is the rate of the two springs together until the tender spring hits its spring stop on the shock body or binds completely, then the spring rate is just the full rate of the main spring.

    Formula copied from: http://www.pirate4x4.com/tech/billavista/coilovers/Part_1/

    Dual rate formula
    Ki = (Km * Kt) / (Km + Kt)

    Where:

Ki = Initial Spring Rate (of combined springs)
Km = Spring Rate of Main Spring
Kt = Spring Rate of Tender Spring

run delrin on the lowers when it's fixed lower mounts. no adjustments, when it's stock lowers it's still stock rubber so it can flex and stays in alignment for the most part. pretty self explanatory. run delrin and use the lower alignment cams and it won't stay that way. it's way easier to build them as hiems and stronger as well. that's why. and no noise from the damn poly bushings.

how's your back half coming along?

    this.

here. Look at what i had to do just with stock travel.

    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/1s...ild-lt-expo-trail-rig-bs-314.html#post8006647

if your not willing to do MORE then that. then 35s aren't for you.

Oh..and you absolutely HAVE to regear your diffs to at least 4.88s or 5.29s. So add another grand to your cost just in parts. If you don't know how to set up diffs or have the ability..make it 2 grand

i think your underestimating what a good mid travel setup will do. Go 33s and mid travel. You'll be fine with the right valving

    short answer to this:

No. they won't. Major surgery is required no matter what.

How softer is it? At high and low speed, and near bump such as jumping or big hits?

Try turning your compression in about 1-2 turns more than passenger side. Go from there if needed. On your long tubes.

He purchased the shocks used from someone, we valved them and put the 90 on.
He is planning on having a custom kit put on, rather than a TC or Camburg, from our discussions.
The reservoir should not be an issue as far as mounting goes. He will just have to be creative.

What is the difference between a mid travel ext. coilover and a long travel coil over?

Sorry for all the noob questions and comments
