Two questions for those who know:

    - The coils on my truck are about six years old. If I jack the truck up such that one of the front tires is off the ground, then set the truck back down, that sit of the truck will be 4+ inches higher than the other side of the truck until I drive the truck and/or let it sit for a while. Is that amount of settling normal?

    - I have a design for a tire carrier in my head (this will be #5 that I've built for the truck). I'd like to use heavy duty traditional style hinges on a vertical tire carrier (will be supported off a very solid vertical square tube). Here's an example:

    http://www.hardwaresource.com/hinge...ges/Welding+Hinges,+Heavy+Duty,+Removable+Pin

Probably go with something a little heavier duty (would like a combined rating of 500 pounds for three hinges). The design of the tire gate/carrier will not have any weight prying on the hinge while the tire gate is closed.

I don't see any other trucks using these. Is there a specific reason?

They aren't strong enough is why.

My 500lb rated latch bent in a week. 700lb one lasted a month.

    2000lb one is doing great

Use a real spindle. Trust me. Those things will just rip out

In my experience traditional hinges don't hold up well on a truck. The weather, dirt and mud make them work like shit pretty fast.

I just used those on 2 gates I built for customers. Medium size and the larger size. So far, they are super smooth. The zerk fitting is nice to have.

This might be a dumb question. Idk.. But can you use as 64" chevy springs to do a SUA. I'm really hating how little up travel I'm gettin with the AP standard

allpro long travel, shackle flip with ome dakars, cruisin offroad bumpers and sliders, 4.88 gears with arb's front and rear, budbuilt skids.
Not enough arch for spring under. I have heard of people getting them re arched but I dont think they would work very good

For the settling, I'm pretty sure that is just your suspension cycling causing that and not exactly related to the springs.

When you jack the truck up your tires swing down and in towards each other. When you set it back down the traction of the tire will keep the tires from sliding back out and will hold the truck up higher than it would normally sit. Once you move it the tires can slide back out to where they would normally sit based on your spring rate and preload.

Hey guys looking at replacing some bushings on the truck. Have the defined sua, is it safe to assume the bushings in the shackles are the same exact size as stock ones? I want to replace the Delrin with poly bushings.

Looks like he dropped a tire off the side. And lost the momentum

I think he hesitated when he dropped a tire and didn't hammer down to clear the gap.
