Those are long, how much do they go out of the wheel? Also what nuts are you using?

Since my wheels are steel I just use a standard nut. They seem longer in that pic than they really are because it doesn't have a caliper on.

Uh, yeah. On my third transmission. First two were on 33's. The syncro's are fucked on this one too, so #4 will happen sooner or later. Went through several rear diffs (usually ring gear teeth), also a couple on 33's. I didn't notice the 37's ate more parts than 33's, but I'm exceptionally hard on stuff. It's frustrating. I think this will be the last Toyota I build.

There is a joke in there somewhere. :D

The first one got stuck in third gear (in Germany, took several months to get a new one under warranty) it was abused, but that particular shift was just normal driving. I didn't tear it apart to see exactly what happened, assumed broken shift fork, but the replacement trans had updated internals. The Mojave desert ate two of them, but I was very much overdriving the truck... for a LOT of dirt miles. I did almost every trail in Socal in a two year period. The latest trans supposedly also has updated (08+) internals, but the syncros are garbage. Spirited driving quickly eats away the soft syncros. My current trans won't go into reverse or first if it's anywhere near frosty outside, and grinds even when shifting gently until it warms up. I know what you are thinking. Shift slower. Well fuck that, I didn't build this truck to drive like my grandma everywhere. ;)

Ever thought about doing a turbo 400 trany swap? Theres a company that makes the adapters to run em with our motors thats what im planning on doing when mine shits out which should be anytime now. But havnt seen anyone do it, so i dont know how hassle free the swap goes

Time for a T56 or something else that is stronger maybe? haha Tor is running a T56 with hopes of it surviving his goal of 800 RWHP. Not sure how they handle the offroad abuse though since his will stay street.

Tsa motorsports did the turbo 400 swap on their tacoma race truck from a few years ago.

They had a build thread on ttora. The stock tranny blew up in the first race I think, then they swapped in a semi built turbo 400 and that tranny is still going I think. Not sure if they still own the truck.
