They completely clear while the truck is static. On hard hits at full stuff when turned it gnarfes the firewall in one spot, but I have to do something pretty stupid to make that happen. I think these frames flex a lot more than we think, even when caged.

Did you had to cut off the top part pf the firewall? And do you rub on top of the cab mount at full lock stuffed?

Yeah, the entire wheel well is gone, the cab mount chopped, and also moved the fuse box. It's just air between the tire and the hood, so I think I could fit 40's pretty easy. That's only 1.5" more clearance than I have. It could be done, even on an X-runner.

username-gotta love the military goodyears, not the best tire out there but they last and you cant beat the price they can usually be picked up for.

enigmadsm- That red double cab has me thinking, if those are 38x15.50 then those wheels have to be 15x14 weld typhoons or a custom widening job on some. The fender openings do not appear to be as high as aftermarket glass ones and they dont look like they would be wider than 6.5" from the body. I am sure there is a lot of cutting going on under that truck to get them to fit and thats fine with me but thats a really good pic to get reference for sizing off of.

actually I found its build gallery thanks to the sticker on the door and finding tommigumm's gallery lol http://www.f4x4.is/myndasvaedi/tacoma-breyting/

it appears to be a stock suspension completely (he later redid rear with coils apparently) and is only running a 4" body lift in which they cut the mounts off the frame and raised them using some box tubing instead of a conventional body lift. I even found one pic tommi had posted where you can see the stock springs still in the back in use, but again the build page shows the coils.

TY guys for the help and pics I think I have an idea of what I want to go with, I might try to find someone in my area (or within a few hours driving distance) with 4.5's and look at them in person, maybe even see if I can test fit a tire/wheel combo once I get close to ordering my glass and go from there. I'll stop cluttering the LT thread now lol

Yeah its just a gallery of the build not a full thread, but it shows a good bit of the work done to the truck, I'm not sure why they seem to prefer the body lifts so much over there but I'm guessing its along the lines of the cost of suspension kits over there, since most of the lifts they do are custom ones using springs from other vehicles rather than buying all new pieces. It looks like he did the firewall mod right up to the bottom of the door hinge so thats not much more than some I have seen for first gen tundras just trying to run 35's around here.

yeah I have taken and put a wheel and tire on truck with no strut in just to cycle the suspension easy from full droop to full stuff and then just cut out whatever gets in the way.

on the drop bracket and LT comment I have seen a Hawaiian taco like that and kept the pic for times like this, hey atleast its a pic that has something to do with LT trucks right lol,

I am running a set of the BFG Baja's that have been cut now, and it's a much better tire. I really like them and will get another set when these wear out. For $200 for new tires that still have nipples on them, you can't beat it.

Ha ha yeah I have had them to, they are better compound for offroad for sure but dont hold up as long as the goodyear mt's. I have also had the newer goodyear MTR military tires and they are about on par with the bfg's but bit better on wet pavement (though once siped like yours the old MT's and bfg's are tons better also)

I actually got boned with a group buy on 40 MT's where I had guys back out after I ordered all the tires, so I had to put up the money by myself and my wife and I ended up doing a cannonball run from MD to FL to MD in 36hrs to get them.

I also have got into the big tires but luckily I only bought one extra set for a guy that never paid (I still have them though) one set of 7 53's and one set of 5 46's.

Where did you get your tires from? Cheapest I have found is 400 for 4 tires.

First set I got of RDC classifieds, $75 per tire. This set I ordered from TWF at $200 a tire (they hand grooved them) with free shipping because I also ordered a lightbar from him. http://www.trailworthyfab.com/Tires

I think they were thinking you paid $200 for all 4 lol, which I guess you could read it that way. I sold the goodyears for $100 a piece to guys I knew and $125 ea to C-list people. But the days of finding them that cheap are past us I think lol.

Ya, I think so too. You still see lots come up on govliquidations sometimes, it's just having the truck and trailer to move them and winning the bid of course. I don't think there is a lot of profit in flipping them anymore. The guy I bought the first set from bought a whole train car full for $600!

I know haha my first battery started leaking acid when offroad so everything got like that. Relocated the little finned box on the firewall.

New core support/inner fender delete, bumper, fiberglass, lower arm mounts, and upper arms.
Pussed out on building a new gnar kit, missed a couple trips already and I don't want to miss the whole season.
Prob do something with the front end next summer.
Not so sleeper anymore but I like how it all turned out.
