Badass! You bought that thing , looked like a great deal!

You have three options for a truss..

For one you get the Ruff stuff 8" one and trim it to fit ...
Second you can try this one which is your best bet!
    http://www.lowrangeoffroad.com/full-length-rear-toyota-axle-truss.html

Third Solo Makes a truss, not shown online for the tundra axle. Its around $100-200 I forgot. If you ask them they can get it for ya.

Don't forget Eric at relentless makes a sweet truss too. Jason is rocking it and someone got a modified version for a 2nd gen taco axle. I plan on running it on my t100 axle too

Might try that low range truss I posted I just called they said they made it for 8" but they have a tundra outside they are gonna mock up the truss to.

Awesome I'll give them a call today and see whats up with it.

I've read a few different things on welding on a truss. Some people jig the axle to prevent warping, some people run small short stitches alternating sides and just take their time. I've also heard things like leaving diff fluid in it to help cool, and also the opposite. Lot of information on them... any first hand experience?

Anyone know if the TC bucket and upper gussets fit? Otherwise I'll just have to make my own. Trying to get this thing beefy before the next meet.

I know Eric's truss is 180° on the axle so you just have to stich weld it and it keeps the axle from warping itself.

Here is a crazy idea. Anyone tried filling the housing with water ? Would take a long ass time to boil the water inside, as long as there is little to no air, would it work ? If I had a spare housing laying around I'd give it a shot. Full heat, no jig.

    ...too much shit to list.
The LROR truss is just a Sky Manufacturing truss which is also designed for the mini toyota axle (86-95 yota).

Eric sells both, tundra and 2nd gen. He modified the cad files that he used for the tundra axle so it specifically works for the 2nd gen axles and will sell all the plate work as a WIY kit.

Yep. Just send Eric a PM and he'll set you guys up.

Doubtful. Plus your welds will be quenched immediately. Not my cup of tea personally.

I remember someone talking about filling it with diff fluid and going at it... would serve as a heat sink of a sort. but i think jason is right, quenching it like that might not be the best idea.

    I'll pm eric now

Water is probably a bad idea. It'll be just as much work to build a jig, or to stitch it.

yea 95-97s and i think even some 98-00s are single cat. I believe when toyota redid the emissions setup for the 01-04s it became dual cat

yussss  gonna be burning one for mine this summer

I don't have any pictures right now of the ghetto way I do it, but it involves a bottle jack in the center of the axle housing with a chain going to each end of the axle. pump the bottle jack to preload the axle the opposite direction and weld it up.

Does the previous owner live in San Marcos? I think I've seen it around. Cool truck and was on my list when I was looking for an older one myself.
