    1) I have no clue what the pinion angle is, lsk set if when they built it.
    2) if the "shock" is on the back of the axle is rebound or comp affecting the wrap?
    3) trust me I try, but it hops so bad and so often I cant avoid it sometimes.
edit. what can be done to rid the axle wrap? are trac bars in the question? Im thinking of ditching the canti.

Anti-wrap bars are one solution. Links are another.

    1) Get an angle finder and figure it out. At ride height the pinion should be around 2* down (towards the ground) from a straitline to the output flange of the transmission (or carrier bearing if you have one).
    2) Both. The axle is actually rotating back and forth 100 times a second (as you put it). When the tires have traction and dig, the axle housing rotates one direction causing the springs to deflect and when they lose traction the loaded spring unloads the other direction. See below for simplified picture. This happening really fast causes a chatter.
    3) Soft sand is the worst when it comes to causing the wrap/chatter.

I would love to just link the truck.
Thank you. you always have the most information and best pictures I might add. I can measure the pinion angle to morrow and get back with that. how does the angle affect the wrapping?
so if we were to look at this in slow mo the axle would start by rotating back (pinon rising) thus pulling the shocks and extending them ( due to the shocks on the rear). in this case would a slower rebound help the situation? the canti arms are almost 2:1 so basically my 8 stack on rebound is really closer to a 4 stack.

My truck does the same thing now. I just let off the gas wait until I grip again and slowly ease back on the power. It did get better when I added more weight in my bed to make the rear bite into the ground deeper also it flattens out the leaf pack more to help push me forward.

It has also seemed to get worse as the springs wear out. They have lost a lot of arch since I installed them.

The point of angling the pinion down helps counter wrap. Too much angle down tho and you can get vibes. When I was researching it, leafs with traditional shackles, general consensus was 2* down. If it's angled neutral or up, wrap is exacerbated.

I know less than diddly shit on canti valving. But it certainly sounds light to me. If it helps I run an 8 stack on 16 shock almost vertical on rebound with the tube all the way open. I hopped a couple times in the baby powder sand at super as well, but very rarely (and I get off the gas immediately).

IMO....you are better off getting a 9" and start from scratch instead of pouring more money into Yota axles.

Yep. Aside from losing spring rate, as the pack flattens, pinion rises with relation to the driveshaft

So I'm thinking a good re arch and a slower compression could posibly help me with this wrap

Yea that sand is nasty. Are shocks front or back of the axle and how does that affect wrap? The 9" has come to mine, just comes down to cost

or you could link it and be done with axle wrap

Re-arch never lasts. You'll be in the same spot again later this year.

As for the valving...my opinion is to ditch the canti or link it.

Even on a 50t? And I agree. The canti was legit when I rode dirt bikes every weekend but now its more of a play truck and I don't ride anymore. What pack holds a double cab up? Cory has a 50t and his sits way higher with way more weight.

Show me a canti setup that keeps up with the same truck with shocks thru the bed.
It's a compromise for those that are adamant about keeping full bedspace. Not a substitute.

I have a 50t also right now. I had to re-arch and add an extra leaf to get the uptravel I wanted with my weight.

You'd be suprised how fast the canti is. It hangs pretty well. What spring did you add and who did you get the spring from? I may be interested in this.

No I wouldn't be. I've seen them and stand by my statement. It may hang...but it hangs behind. :D

I added one right after the main leaf with a wicked arch. Local spring shop in Reno made it for me.
