Might as well just bullet proof everything too and add bomb plates under the truck.

So for everyone running glass in the front, what's the consensus on intake. Not so keen on having an open hole to the intake and filter where the inner tube used to connect. Anyone just add a screen? Or just go with an aftermarket one like k&n or afe?

I didn't know how to weld either. I built a set of sliders and two bumpers and by the time I was done I knew how to weld. Also got really good with a grinder. ;)

I made a new inner fender liner on the passenger side, still use the stock intake

Haha I think this was one of my first mods, made them out of the mudflaps :)

Again, spending my money for me.

Could always give it a try. What did you do for the 360 up top? Cut a hole?

The A pillar and roof beam along the doors is one piece, so I was able to drop it down enough to weld 360 then just weld to the floor tubing last.

I like the open talk about caged cars and the positives but I think its one sided with at least touching on the negatives. I know I don't have a long traveled or cagged truck but I have a street legal Track car gutted and fully caged so I have some experiance.

Taking a street car and just throwing in a cage can be dangerous. The passengers really need to be secure in the car they can't be flopping around like they would in a stock car. Harness and proper seats are a must. Hitting your head on a cage in even a small fender bender can kill you. And lets be honest roll bar padding only goes so far.

Agreed. At least in the 2nd gen, there is enough room to get the tubing away from your melon. My buddy is 6' 2" and can't touch a tube when strapped in. Everyone straps in and gets a safety brief if they ride in the jesus seat, and I carry helmets for any high speed runs. If I was regularly running triple digit speeds I would look into a HANS device and head restraints too, but for what I do it's not really required. I also keep heavy items strapped down so they don't become missiles if I take a digger. That said, there is always risk when you send 4000 pounds of steel hurtling across the landscape, and I guess that's what makes it so much fun. "With age comes a cage"

Yeah I've seen people make some custom ones. Wasn't sure what material everyone was using. But that is crafty right there sir. I was mainly worried that I'd hit a puddle and suck water up. I guess I'll have to wait till I get shock hoops and engine cage fabed before I make something like that. Rather do it once than have to cut up or make a new one. Thanks for the tips guys. Ill just replace the $10 filter more often till that day comes. :)

I'd suggest putting some pantyhose or something similar to just keep the bigger stuff out of the tube. Unless you don't see mud and smaller rocks then You'll be fine without it.

Kinda off topic but you think that panty hose would work with a snorkel and snow?

I tried panty hose on the intake elbow once. Zip tied and rubber banded it to the elbow.
The whole thing got sucked into the intake box. Fucking supercharger.
