Update on Strange engineering. I finally sent my center section to them and after a week of it being in their possession they called me to let me know their was nothing wrong and that pinion seals apparently pop out in my application. and I need a pinion seal retainer. which they do not provide. Then they proceed to ask me for almost $100 for returning the dif to me and for the labor. I have less than 30 miles on this dif and they are the ones that requested to see it because I was told they dont see that very often. now they claim it happens all the time and due to my application they wont warranty the work and now I have to pay 100 bucks after forking over almost 1400 for a racing differential. Im currently in the process of contacting their manager. I think im going to make a thread about this. All I have to say is im super upset with Strange Engineering right now. Alot of people claim they are the best in the business and they are feeding me alot of crap right now.

They treated me good! My rear ring and pinion was missing 3 teeth after 20K miles and 2 years of wheeling. I called them and got an RMA number. Cost me $95 to ship it to them (took about a week and a half to get there). They called me back after only having it for a few days and had it heading back my way. They installed new ring and pinion and paid shipping back to me.

Total down time was about 3 weeks but that's because new years slowed the shipping of my diff down a lot...

I dont think i would have had a problem with the repair time if they were up front, they paid for the shipping to them, and told me it was going to take 3 days. immediately checked the tracking info when i sent it out it was scheduled 7 days after i sent it out. They also told me he could turn it around same day, its been 6 days since they received it. And now after only putting 30 miles on it they are saying I dont have a warranty...

man Chris, this is right up there with a FOA interaction lol. Best of luck with those knuckle heads. It really gotta be one of two things... The snout they make for the front of that diff was machined too big or they sourced seals that were too small. There is nothing we did in that 30 mile break in run that was out of the ordinary for a diff on any vehicle. We didnt even get to the whoops :/

Dude its ridiculous, i just got off the phone with the manager. he's suppose to give me a call back after he finds out what is going on.

I called ECGS and they will warranty that dif even in a race vehicle.

wtf why is the lower shock bolt 7"!!
but i dealt with the same exact thing about a week ago
cut both sides off of it, tried hammering it out, turned out the bolt was bent and seized in the lower shock uniball.
I ended up just cutting the front tab off and pulling it that way, and welded a new one on. can't even tell it happened, and that mofo was stuck as hell in there
landon and i broke his vice trying to press it out, had to take it to the neighbor and he pressed out the entire uniball. new uniball and misalignments and i'm good to go, with an important lesson learned
DONT REUSE BOLTS AND ALWAYS USE ANTISEIZE

See, hard to beat. Plus their customer service is awesome. The only thing that sucks is shipping times, but we should all have a spare third anyway...even if it's just a clunker to get you back to the shop.

Ok guys I just finished talking to Total Chaos and DSM. I think I finally got my coilovers figured out :yay:

So Total Chaos told me that King makes a custom travel coilover for the +2 kit. I guess an 8" travel shock doesn't work perfect with it. Anyways it comes with resis and is custom valved for the kit. So then I talked to DSM and they told me I could get whatever spring I want put on it and the price is $1425 for the pair.

I'm thinking I will go with a 16" 650 lb coil since I will have a full plate bumper and winch. They also told me that it would be running approximately 2.5" of lift. I'm trying to determine if cranking that up a little would create too much preload and defeat the purpose of LT? I'm trying to build a nice, flexy suspension with a lot of articulation for crawling. Think I could go 600 lb or would that be stupid?

The reason I decided to go with King is because of the progressive valving. That seems like the proper application for the rocks compared to icon. What's everyones opinion here? I'm sure anything will be better than my current setup hahaha

That sucks man. When I built my Currie full floater awhile back I got the wrong bolt pattern floater hubs, the wrong pitch lug nuts, and a few other minor silly issues. I was blown away by the mistakes because of the $$ I was paying for the axle. It all got sorted out but it was a lot of time wasted and shipping costs.

Bottom line from my experience was that I, much like you, ended up paying for stuff I shouldn't have to do in order to get it all straightened out. Everyone had the mentality of "just deal with it" its an expensive industry.
Now I just factor in extra time and $$ when ordering stuff like that.
