The most you can get maybe with an extended coilover is 11" of travel. MAYBE. with LR you get 13-14 give or take. Which has its advantages for crawling too.

But I agree for a weekend warrior. A good mid travel setup is the way to go. Can do mid travel front and rear for the price of front lt

Yes and the other awesome thing about LT for crawling is that it allows you to maintain lift while maintaining downtravel. Even with mid travel running 3" of lift leaves you without a lot of downtravel.

the trackwidth with LT is not ideal for crawling unless you get the allpro 2" but then you have less travel again...and why would you use LT to crawl with a 2wd? you would want 4wd and then even if you had 4wd lt, you will have a tough time maintaining the cv axles lol.

Yea plus a 1st gen with a lt kit is still not as wide as a 2nd gen. He would be fine.

Talking about crawling and gnarly trails is also moot since he has a 2wd truck.

Actually the LT 4wd rigs seem to keep CV's under them better than the stock width. I think it's because they can get the same lift and travel but with milder CV angles. 2nd gen CV axles are pretty damn strong straight on. It's when they are at full droop while turning that they like to snap... if you have LT it takes more to get them to full droop.

As for width, it's not like an LT Tacoma is much if any wider than a Dana 60 front. Maybe some of these guys running the +6 kits and such, but the +3.5 kits aren't that wide.

    ...too much shit to list.
Wider also means more leverage on the CV's.
Dana 60 Dodge is 67.5", Chevy 69.5", and Ford 69.25".

4wd 1st gens also run modified tundra cv axles. A stronger cv.

True but it doesn't seem to be an issue. Maybe the LT guys aren't baller enough in the rocks:stirthepot:

    IIRC rctoy's dana 60 measured 72" wms to wms:notsure:

    1st gen with 3.5 kit is 67"
    2nd gen with 3.5 kit is 72"

Truck looks like it handled that pretty well.

That person with the camera though.... that was a pretty dangerous spot to stand.

Shit man that's a gross rim failure. Time to change mfgs based on your track record... I vote Stealth, Konig, or Method beads if you care for my opinion :) Nice pics by the way!

Anyone running TC Rear SUA Conversion?
    http://www.chaosfab.com/accessories.php?id=86000#86450

Just comparing all options, but I've had my eyes set on DMZ. I also need to consider options for the leaf packs since I have a shitload of weight in back. Not sure what the Deavers, TC recommends will hold (Heavy Duty Spring Part #'s 3703-U539LHD/3703-U540RHD).

Ya his truck is exactly what I want, this is my first long travel build and I don't have anywhere close the knowledge I would need to build my own links. I've messaged dmctacoma and dtf to see if they're interested in building me a kit so we'll see
