They are not a weaker ratio. In fact they are just as if not stronger.

5.29 for sure. 75mph doesn't suck at all. 4.88s is perfect on a heavy 1st gen with 33s

Speed limit is 65, 5.29 it is for now. If it's too low with a blower I'm not afraid to regear again.

ill be going 4:70s with my new axle. going to truss it and then throw a Detroit locker in it

    I go 75. It's about 3300 rpms.

Be about 2900-3100 for him since he is an auto.

Ask Jordan how his 5.29's held up.... They didn't, lol. I've been told the same that 4.88s are a better option for longevity. I would love some 5.29s but don't wanna blow reader ends. My 2¢

Any diff that explodes prematurely just means it wasn't set right. That said, our diffs are a pita to set up. So happens.

I've had no issues with mine...yet..which I'm slightly surprised by since I did them myself..ha but well over 5000 miles now and a good chunk is Offroad so...idk..I loooooooovvvvveeeee the torque from the 5.29s. And 4lo is awesome.

Eh I don't want to canti Frank. My double would be fun though. Just can't afford it..stupid money..

I have the same truck as you caged 35's but supercharged and linked with 4.88 gears. I liked how she cruised on the freeway compared to my old truck and doesn't feel too heavy to me. 2500 rpm i think I was going about 75 but if i build a ford 9 which I have a ruff stuff housing already i believe I will go up alittle something between 4.88 and 5.29 since there are more gearing options. If your ever around my area let me know I'll let you drive it so you can feel it for yourself homie.

I've never been to Glamis

Furthest I go is Barstow or Ocotillo, both about 2.5 hours. I can do the distance at 65 no problem, if I get a ticket I lose my job.

Some 5.13's would be worth their weight in gold for Toyotas.

Seriously, gears are the stupidest thing. I was like, "hey I want 5.29's" and now I'm like "but 4.88's..."

Looking at a few transmission mount gussets on a few builds here. So is the idea to make the transmission mount as solid to the fame as possible? Or to gusset the parts of the mount that will bend during and impact from a jump?

Both. But you can't do the tranny without also doing the motor.

Thanks. Yeah I'm planing on it. Made templets for the motor mount yesterday. Im going to go inside the original mounts. I see how others go on the outside. Im just going to torch out that small gusset and rebuild it.

4.88's might feel alittle heavy without the supercharger but if your not going to supercharge it soon maybe you should try the 5.29's
