Fastenal is pretty cheap too, I was quoted $50-80 to ship the defined kit with leafs and all the parts from california to vermont.

 

I think unless you are hucking the truck regularly or racing it, id say the bead behind the stock cam tabs wil work just fine. The tc gussets are overkill for most imo. Plus they arent fun to install.

 

They don't look fun to install...but with what i have in mind..might just opt for them.

 

The TC gussets aren't that bad.

Getting the factory ones off is the main pain in the ass, and that's only for the interior ones - the front and rear most tabs are easy to get at with a drill (to drill out spot welds).

I used an air chisel to bust them off after I drilled out the welds. Definitely made it easier.

 

I have both of those handy tools.

You just use the cam bolts to line them up?

 

is there a basis to solid mount lowers? i have f911 bolts that are waiting to be put on. just dont know where to start the allignment at. or if there is anything special i have/should set em up at

 

You have heimed upper right? If so just center the lower bolts and weld in a plate. I like to use 1/4" plate for that.

 

yes sir. heimed uppers. i need to take my lowers off and tap them for zerks and regrease em. then go get an alignment

Link of said write-up? Planning on solid mounting the lowers very soon and converting to heimed upper so alignment doesn't keep moving and to try and fit 35s.

 

Quick question too, what are you guys running to cover up the clevis on the steering rack? I put on some shock boots but it pinched them within 5 minutes and destroyed them.

x2, just go to town with an angle finder, thats what i did. i solid mounted my lowers by plating in the pockets with 1/8" and then made 1/4" "cam tabs"

i use the stock steering boot, theyre stiff enough to keep their shape. I have them sit right behind the clevis, sometimes they scoot a little past it but the bolt keeps them from going too far.
