What? It's just a splined coupler that is held in place via two pinch bolts... don't see why there wouldn't be a U Joint alternative on the market somewhere? I can't be the only one with play in their steering because of the rag joint

If you are talking about the rubber piece just change it out to aluminum.

Took me a bit to commit to the time to put together some stuff from Vegas to Reno but here's a little highlight reel from our adventure, roll over included...

I appreciate it but most of the slop is at the rag joint, I've had multiple people wiggle the wheel while I check the steering shaft and below.

good idea, i'll give that a try this week

Question for you 2wd guys, what're y'all doing about the driveshaft? Ive got all-pro expos right now but am going to be going sua in about 2 years and don't want to modify my driveshaft or have one built now if I'm going to have to scrap it in 2 years.

I left it and had the shop inject the cb with silicone to stiffen it

Okay. My CB is completely destroyed and I was looking into trying to find a solid one that the DS or just going one piece. But I'm gonna start calling around to have mine fixed. If you don't mind me asking, how much was it?

Awesome, I appreciate it. Just called and talked to a local shop and I think I'm just going to go one-piece. It's gonna be maybe a hundred more and will keep me from having to worry about the carrier bearing in the future.

    Yes
I don't think you can do a one piece on a 2wd dbl cab 2nd gen because w/o a transfer case the distance / length of the drive shaft is too long. On my 4wd they had to step up to a much larger dia drive shaft to do a one piece double cardon shaft. A one piece also offers up some unique challenges such as needing to remove the carrier bearing crossmember or notch and plate etc because the drive shaft will smash it at bump. Also ,clearance challenges at bump with the e-brake cables and shift cable coming through the bottom of the cab right above the drive shaft.

Makes sense. I still have to go down and take measurements to make sure it wouldn't be too long. If it won't be then that'll be the plan and I can worry about clearances later. I don't have any plans on offroading, especially stuffing the rear end, any time soon.

Does anyone have a single spare tire size 285/70/17 that they need to get rid of? I just got new tires, but my spare is a 35/12.5/17. Also willing to trade, but it's low tread since it's a spare.
