Makes sense. Should I cut all the way up to just below where the boot mounts, or only where you marked?

Edit: nvm, I see on the article it's just the part you demarcated. Thank you much!

Can I buy some of that spare time at Target? Maybe Santa can drop some off lol

I wish I knew how to do more to my truck. I'm handy and can figure stuff out pretty quick, but I'm lucky enough to have a very good friend who owns the shop that works on my truck. As Brent said, it would coat me more in the long run doing it myself over the course of months when they can knock a job out in a week or two. I just wish my 60+hrs/week of work between my 2 jobs allowed for the free time to learn more, but even if I knew more I would still have a pro do most of the work just out of convenience. What's left over I spend time with family and friends that bring me enjoyment.

    Back to the bickering :)

I can see the not having time part. I'm a fab/mechanic by trade soo I'll always say do it yourself if u can. Like exhaust...ill pay someone. I only had an idea when I decided to build a arms that's it, besides the tools. I don't wish that on anyone tho( it was a lot of work).

And I'm trying to save money for a house soo I kinda have to build most my stuff to get anywhere with my savings

Omg, so much work in my future. Especially the rear end. SMH. Wishing it was spring, but I'll bear the weather too, from the garage. Hey, it gets cold in there too.

I'm kinda in same boat with crazy hrs of work, a wife/warden and a kid... I'm handy with the truck and I'm learning to do more every time I'm around it. But, the learning curve to get the fab skills to the level I would be happy with on my truck.... Well that takes a while. I'm happy to pay someone that knows what they are doing. I work to dam jar to not be able to spend a little money (or a lot) on things I'm into. And after my last outing in the truck the wife is fully on board for a quality cage :D that said I do plan on getting a better welder to do smaller things or repairs and such.

Its not that you guys don't know enough, it's that those parts of your brains are already filled with useful information. If you start learning fabrication and design, that means that you have to delete vital information already. Take me for instance, I can weld and fabricate and machine but I can't remember how to tie my shoes or to swim.

It's funny because I grew up around my dad and we just did everything ourselves. Now he doesn't want to do everything. But he's older, richer, and wiser. So he does both. I can't afford shop rates so I do it all myself. I'll learn how. More fun for me anyways even if it cost more time and possibly more money. But eventually. I can totally see be okay with dropping the rig off. Just have to find a shop your confident in too.

Which is non existent in Wyoming for Offroad fab work haha

ATO front skid (need more but icon's might fail if I hang anything else from my truck) All-Pro front bumper thanks to a good deal here and a pesky encounter with a rock or 20, total chaos uppers.
I seam to spend enough of my spare time maintaining it!! I wish I had half the fab skills some of you do, but for me it worked out better letting Tim build the rear. Gave me more time to spend with the truck down in Baja finding surf.

Well hopefully I'll get running soon. When I do and you haven't thrown that kit on yet. I'll come over and lend a hand.

just got a simple lift on her
im at the point in life where it costs me more money to work on my stuff by not being able to work, than it costs me to have someone else work on it.

never thought id be there, i used to do everything myself. but shit, now i barely even have time to sit down on a couch, let alone work on a toy........ time is a virtue..... i value it now that i don't have much of it..

Edit: dont get me wrong some stuff i do myself. but most i pay my dad a great price to work on since he owns a shop. i can work on my shit in the field any day, any time. because i have from when i was 16-22. i just dont have the time to learn how to weld properly, bend, ect, especially because i want my toy right now, and i want it badass. LOL!!
everything i do myself i end up having to re do it because i do something wrong... LOL. or my welds look like shit :/. you will know what welds are mine when you look at my toys.... hahaha!! i know thats the name of the game though, and thats how you learn.

Are the arp studs for lexus is300 good for spacers too? I tried to replace a couple studs on my 2 inch spacers and stock length is obviously too short, the lexus arps will probably be just the right length right?
