Right? Mines about 25ish roundtrip 4 days a week...12k miles the first year...but that was 2 trips to SoCal and Offroad trips that were 2+ hours away every other month or so.

I just bought a dd to save on gas, but I was working out of town for the last 4 months driving 1000 miles a week. 700 from my house to my hotel and back, and 300 to my work reporting location and back to the hotel. Worst part was driving a supercharged truck in 120+ degree heat it was like the s/c wasn't even there.

Yuuuuuuup. Super hot days I just cruise control in the slow lane and not even bother. (on the flip side- when I get off nights and its freezing cold in the mornings, it's alot of fun :D). I also have the ZX10R to commute on when the weather is nice.

Ok I need suggestions on what hub/snout setups to run for a ford 9 full float 35spline, contemplating between a Dana 60 type end, trail gear unit bearing style, or the schriener kit.... Are there other affordable options out there?

i went with camburgs 2.25 hubs. Not sure on price difference compared to trail gear but they are the cheapest billet hub out there

I went with the speedway engineering 2.5'' hubs, same as schriener, pretty much Just a Grand national 2.5" hub. I've put alot of hard miles and no problems so far, my only recommendation is upgrading the bearing retainer to better style like this

so i listed the stock parts of my truck on c-list 2 different posts one for the wheels and one for the fenders.. dude hit me up found out i had suspension to.. and asked about a package deal for everything.. bedsides, front fenders, front suspension (upper and lowers, spindles, shocks, swaybar) front bumper and wheels.. what would be a fair pkg deal on all that? dude said he has 7 tacomas he needs parts for so im guessing its some body shop in LA or something 310 area code..

And I been now seriously considering the Solid Industries full float kit, since it uses dana 60 bearings and stuff and that is readily available just about anywhere and it doesn't use a funky splined axle like the shriener kit. chevy calipers too which are a dime a dozen as well... think im goin with that. I still want the truck to be sumwhat trail/gotonapa maintainable

I think he was fair. Don't remember price he got paid. My buddy was more excited that he doesn't have his garage full of stock truck parts anymore

i went with trail gear unit bearings on a camburg housing. the mounting pockets are ones made/sold/installed by currie. currie also sells their own unit bearing. so far, they've been great for rolling my truck out of the shop and on/off a trailer. they're raw metal so they're a bit rusty now though.

main advantage for me: its a fully sealed unit. no wheel bearings to pack, no hub nut to torque properly, no mess when installing. everything bolts together. I bought the trail gear inner seal that goes in the axle tube of my 9", which should prevent oil from making its way out of the hub/housing end if i ever have to remove a hub. plus i believe the cost of a unit hub is cheaper than a set of 2.5" hub bearings last i checked.

disadvantage: gotta carry a spare hub instead of bearings.

That's what my buddy runs in his crawler, great for trail fixes if you have the hub of course, personally I'm not a fan of inner seals on high heat high speed rear ends, oil doesn't get distributed well enough and you fry your hub bearings( my friends 1450 truck ran into this issue) also unit bearings don't like side loads as much as tapered roller bearings do. I guess it really just comes down to the application your shootin for. By far unit bearing simplicity of replacement and repair is high. That's why I'm digging this modified Dana 60 setup, bearings are cheap and easy to find, granted tougher to trail fix, but they are very durable as a trade off. Uses the standard floater axles like unit bearing setups use as well as others.

That Solid industries floater kit is kinda what I'm lookin for I think
