I was talking about the allen head to torque the bolt not the bolt itself. But I found the info. For the record mcfaddendales sells a bolt that will work if you're in a bind it just doesn't have the tapered head. I use the one from total chaos though.

 

If 2nd gen front diffs are anything like first gens then getting this would save $$$ because it includes the 2 metric allen head sockets you need to work on them, plus that 5/8". Likely problem is solved by now, has a prerunner, 2nd gen diffs hopefully use normal hex head bolts, and he wasn't in a position to wait for shipping anyway, but hey it's not a bad deal.

Hey guys, looking for some uniball and heim advice. My uniballs and heims in my control arms and links are over a year old and a starting to squeal like a bag of burning gerbils so I'm going to be replacing them all very soon. So, what is consensus on the most reliable uniballs ? What about 1 1/4" heims ? I was in a rush and bought the current set for my links at ORW and they rusted out shockingly quick.

Is the stuff from Ruffstuff good ? Better ?

Yeah that magic Triflow... it melts rust and fills pitting and I even heard it regrows the clapped out Teflon liner...no really - I read it on the internet.

 

You said they are noisy, didn't say anything about being worn out. If the teflon liner is worn, you would have play in them.
That being said, I always run fk brand, been on my truck for years and still good.

 

When we were helping a friend prep his class 1 car for the San Felipe 250, he ordered some of the Ruffstuff heims to replace his old FKs... he ran and finished with the old FKs instead. The Ruffstuff parts felt looser than the used FKs. That being said, for a play vehicle they might be okay, but not for racing. As far as noise I imagine them being looser will attract more dirt inside and make the be noisy as well?

 

Summit has all the FK stuff we need for shock heims and uniballs. Just need to search. Best price I found and 1-2 day shipping depending where you are.

 

ORW can get you the SS FK bearings and hiems if you ask. But if you don't need asap Summit is the place to order from.

We were buying all of our FK products through Roush-Yates. Much cheaper that all the off-road shops even with our racer discount. They got bought out by SRI Performance last year but they still carry FK at a much lower price. If it isn't on their site, you can call with the part number and they'll order it for you.

 

just sarcasm but yes they def feel worn out and i think the rust caused premature wear on the link heims. how do yours last for years ? not a daily driver i assume ?
