So why is it that some LT kits are listed as such and then others will list that exact same kit as a mid travel?

What defines that difference and why does it seem to be an optionated thing rather than a specification thing?

    Use the search button....
Start with 15 comp stack and 8's in the rebound for the shims, rebound tube all the way open, long compression tube all the way open and the lil tube halfway closed....start with that

Anyone here ever run 35s with a TC 3.5+ kit? I know on their website recommends 33s but was just wondering if its possible.

Yea it's possible, just got to beat your inner fenders in a bit and have the castor set right. Once you jump it a few times it'll be cherry

I just say search cause a lot of people don't and the same questions keep popping up.

The little compression tube controls your "bump zone" if you screw that adjuster all the way in its acting like a bumpstop kinda. And typically you always want a progressive stroke soo the long tube will be unscrewed more than the lil one, makes the beginning and mid travel stroke softer(smoothes out chatter) then ramps up stiffer towards bottom out to soak the big hits up. And since your on leaf springs the rebound is set really light because the nature of leafs are much slower rebounding than a coil/link design. If you go over to filthymotorsports.com they have some links to explain valving basics and has pictures so you can really visualize and understand what's goin on and what changes influence what. Hope that helps

I'll take a shot at this. If you're talking about front suspension there are three general flavors. First what I have on my 2nd gen is probably what you've seen referred to as a mid travel kit and a long travel kit depending on who you talk to. I have the Baja Kits +2" kit that gets about 11-12" of travel. Some people will call this long travel, but since it's about half way between the 13-14" that most 3.5" kits pull and the stock 9ish" then I usually refer to it as a mid travel kit since it doesn't pull what most standard long travel kits do. The last flavor is the 4.5-6" over kits that can get 15-19" of travel.

^ yep, on these toyotas under 3.5 is generally considered mid travel where anything 3.5 or wider is considered long travel due to the travel #s they will net.

Well I don't have the dollars to spend. More I want to ride in a caged truck and see how bad it is. Plan was an exo like the allpro black Betty cage, but hearing horror stories about wind noise and whistling has me second guessing and thinking internal cage, but I've heard they're noisy as well. Basically I need a ride in a race truck like one of yours and see if I can find my happy medium as far as what I want

Just need to check piston depth and make sure that you don't put too much or too little oil in the shock. You should be fine but I get scared about hydro-locking my shit so I Check them every time I pull the shocks apart and valve or anything.
