Long Travel BS Thread

I have a buddy literally going through this dilemma. Apparently the shock tabs on the DMZ bolt on kit will be different with the camburg kit. Because of this, he has the camburg kit installed, but is going to swap back to his DMZ kit so that the bed cage can function right. I would imagine it would be better to either fab or cage yourself or get someone to make one.

 

So his bed cage can function right?...

Just adjust the axle tabs accordingly

 

My thoughts were similar, but Tim apparently is saying its quite difficult for him to make the cage apparently. I wonder though if that is Tim trying to get him to run DMZ over the camburg kit though.

 

Can't seem to find it anywhere? You know if any pics or pricing on it? I do have some fab skills, so building a minimalist bed cage wouldn't be out of my skill set if buying one is gonna cost way too much.

 

I'm not super familiar with the Camburg kit, but doesn't it just bolt in to the rivets you drill out for the stock stuff?

Building your own saves money but you have a lot more variables that take time. Shock placement and everything. Tim did all the work for you on his so all you have to do it bolt/burn it in.

 

True. I'll send him an email and see what he says. Maybe he'll do a weld it yourself kit for it to save cost

 

If I remember right, it was around the $1500 mark for the bolt on bed cage. Wouldn't surprise me if there was some fluctuation in that price though.

Yea, tried that and still no dice... Im now almost certain that for whatever reason the tie-rod extensions are not the correct ones for this kit... They are 3'' and a couple members with the +2 kit have said they are supposed to be 2 3/8''

Best advice I can give, be patient. The more you rush the more you will spend and/or end up rebuilding later. Figure out what you really want and make a plan

i have two sets of TRE extensions for a +2 kit, one longer and one shorter for Tacomas. I can measure for you, if they'll work i can throw them in the mail.
