Probably easier. I like the ones on the red car - probably more than $30 lol. The white ones are nice too - I might look for some smaller ones, but I want them to be functional - the scoop in the front is open, I just want some vents for going through slow crawling stuff too.

You should really just rivet them for long term durability, and check these guys out for a ton of options :

Yeah I think rivets or allen head bolts is how I'll go.

They have awesome stuff, but considering I only spent $90 on the hood I'm pretty budget minded with this project so I'm going to try to keep costs down on the louvers ebay style. The guy that had those on ebay said he'd make me some custom ones for the same price too if I needed something different. I'm looking at getting some locking hood clamps / pins - I only found $80 ones on Amazon. Seems worth it for that.

Hope the pics work. Aluminum louvers off of ebay seller. About $40 for the pair.

Hey y'all. Quick question! Just finishing up my frame plating. Will .095 wall HREW be suitable for the X brace crossmember?

.95 or .095? .95 wall would be way more than overkill. Most of the stuff on my truck is .120" wall with some .25"

I went with Simpson Offroad ones for the allen head route. These are cut and bent, not like the stamped rod louvers.

Those are super nice - if I had a nicer hood I'd go for something like that. Probably going for the cheapest I can find so I can put more money into what's going under the hood

It's good to see that more people are going with vents like this. I figured it would be a good idea since the first thing the guys on Roadkill do when their junk is overheating is take the hood off. Just gotta find time to do all this stuff - work is keeping me busy - good thing I like it lol.

@Dalandser Right on man. The rod louvers are a bang for the buck. Surely you have a giant list of to-do's and just gotta check them off one at a time. I got off overtime at work and started working this for like 6 hours to get the edges all smooth and painted. I was running on empty at mid day, but all worth it! Keep at it.
