How does it provide more travel without messing up the angles/geometry?

Please explain what is long travel to you.

Is it 16" shock travel? Does 14" count?

My point earlier is that maybe 1/2 of the Tacoma community calls Total Chaos's 11.5" wheel travel front kit "Long travel". Wonderful kit and quality, just to me it's really mid travel.

I'm not giving out details yet, but it doesn't mess up anything. It will open up travel without fabrication and moving front hangers and perches outboard

Assuming it could be the same concept like the Silverado rear hangers that move the pivot point down and back to allow the leafs to cycle better or Rangers who move it back? I wouldn't know on the Tacoma as I just went straight to DMZ SUA so everything is in different locations.

Most wouldn't say long travel is defined by shock length or travel numbers as a flat number (i.e 12" of travel). Typically speaking for the front LT refers to extended arms and the rear as a SUA or backhalfing with links. Again a generalization. Removing the stupid loaded rubber bushings allow the leaf pack to glide easier without binding allows for more predictable dampering and of course everyone loves beef. But I don't think most would consider a hanger replacement as LT.

Amen to that. Bridging the gap between DMZ/Camburg/Giant kits and weak stock hangers, which is actually responsible for much of that poor stock Tacoma ride quality.

    A thing or two...
For all you that have boxed the rear frame, what size/thickness tube did you use to replace the crossmember? I did some quick searching and didn't come up with anything useful just pictures or posts saying they used 'tube'. Based on what I've read, I presume that DOM tubing is preferred over HREW, correct?

Hopefully, I'll be ordering my plates this month or next, and I'm starting to research where I can buy tubing locally and seeing what prices run.

    Thanks.

Literally does not matter what you use for the cross brace... 1.5", 1.75", 2.0" .... HREW, DOM, 4130...

1.75 .120 wall is the most common.

DOM is my preference as it's almost the same price as hot rolled where I live.

Frame is plated, boxed and this along with some additional top bracing. So yea, whatever works.

If you're pushing your truck, anything less than 1.75" 0.120 wall DOM for such a critical frame section would be foolish and a wasted effort. You might as well leave the factory crossmember there if you use anything less.

I glanced at the bio you have for this...I got the impression that this was made to be used for both SOA and SUA apps? As far as an LT application, was the intention to widen the gap between the stock hangers so that an LT SUA leaf pack for instance could then fit? I can appreciate the effort in creating something like this, but I feel like the front hanger would need to be shifted outboard as well in order to keep the geo in balance, but Im not a pro at this stuff by any means.

    Yes
Second gen rear frame narrows at the back, OE front hanger is under frame and rear hangar is outboard already. He did not make it for long travel, it is a beefed up OE replacement with a bit more range than OE.
