Is nobody gonna mention the elephant in the room?

A fabricator designs a kit, which one would assume was designed with geometry and bump steer in mind. And then said kit has issues with cv boot fins rubbing the LCA. So the fix is to add spacers to clear the fins. But what happens to the geometry? You have effectively increased the one variable without compensating for another. So was the kit designed correctly to start with, and the spacers throw it off while fixing the boot issue and fucking up bump steer? Or was it designed incorrectly, and the spacers make it right whilst fixing the boot issue as well?

The world may never know. Unless you have a tape measure. In which case :notsure:

I’ll just put it this way...

    Am I stoked, no...

Will complaining on TW fix it... more than likely not...

Will it be fixed by them, they sent the spacers...

Am I trying to find the best solution for the situation and make it work, yes I am...

I still stand by the reasons of my choice. I didn’t buy this kit because it was popular, cool or anything like that. I got it because it had a lot of things I liked. The LCA bushings, the added ground clearance with the uniball placement. The boxed construction, the machined CV’s, and a few other little details that matter to me.

While the execution wasn’t as expected, I’m gunna make it work the best I can. Sure I don’t appreciate the remarks when I am trying to work on a solution and get my shit box on the road. But I’m gunna keep on working on it to get it right. Gunna get it in the dirt and have some fun despite the added bump steer. Gunna work on a solution for that, maybe make a hiemed steering with double shear and move the steering pivot back down 3/16” to make up for the spacers. Who knows today... the last 3 pages on here are about a lot of stuff except solutions.

Point is a few of us came here for answers. Help or don’t. Tell me why my shit sucks or provide solutions. I know this thread is notorious for beating people up for stupid questions though I don’t see this as a “what setting should my 5100’s be on” type issue. Oh well, gone are the days of the desert of 15 years ago when we all had garage build shit but we’re stoked to be in the dirt having fun. Rialto was the golden days of the prerunner sport for sure...

I dont think anyone is saying your shit sucks man, were just pointing out an obvious design flaw on a production kit and the issues it will or already has created.

From someone thats already running completely solid and heimed steering I would tell you that while its a great upgrade its not for a truck that going to be daily driven. Your rack will thank you. Its a lot easier to swap a bent tie rod than a complete rack.

Agreed but grab yourself a drink and log off for the night. Just gotta do that sometimes. Thanks for venting and defending our shit with me. Best case our shit is awesome and they don't know it. Worst case it is shit and we'll be shit out of luck within the year. PS I've been out a few times and pushed it hard with only the cv clearance thing causing an issue (popping off outer boots). Spacers good or bad should provide some sort of remedy for that. Planning on putting it through its paces again over this weekend. I'll post up if there's any issues this weekend.

@misdirection1982, you may want to be informed of what some of the current discrepancies with dirt king are. Not saying anything bad, but there are issues that need to be resolved at hand.
