I feel like anger when you're working on stuff is just like being drunk.

    You don't think clearly
    You overlook simple shit
And you can destroy stuff when you're not paying enough attention

    Slow is smooth
    Smooth is fast :)

ATF/ acetone mix is generally recognized as the best penetrating oil for helping stuck nuts. Give that a shot if the WD-40 doesn’t get you there.

Try tossing it in the freezer for a bit. Aluminum grows/shrinks faster than steel. Might help reduce the interference between the two if the bump is stuck in the sleeve (if it doesn’t just slide out after the nut is off).

When re-assembling I’d give it a very thin coat of anti-seize to prevent galvanic corrosion from letting the two become one.

well with your luck so far it would be on par. like I said I hope its not. it happens to everyone, I had a tire shop over torque a lug nut. when I went to pull it snapped the lug stud right off as it was over torqued. :fingerscrossed:

After you let the WD-40 work, try a block of wood and a rubber mallet to get the bump stop out of the can. Do not go ham or use a metal hammer. It will come out if your patient. As mentioned already, use a light coat of anti seize when you reassemble to keep it from seizing up.

If I buy never been used King coilovers, can I swap out the springs with King or would I need a receipt of purchase - I could drive to their warehouse and do it in person if that makes a difference. Thinking about buying these, but the spring rates are a little different from what was recommended (700 main vs 600 main)

Edit: turns out they were purchased for a silverado from LSK @Anthony250

doubt they'd swap em for free. But you can put any 3'' coil on there you want.

I thought that was a policy they had? Either way it shouldn't be too hard to sell them if I end up having to buy new ones for my truck's weight.

yeah steel wool is not gonna fix that. Just corrosion from aluminum being with steel and no great way for moisture to get out.

Red scotchbrite pads'll take care of that. Got my aluminum cylinder heads nice and clean... It'll take a bit of elbow grease, but if it can clean exhaust gunk, it can clean those...

Give them a call. I called to see if they'd trade me out 16"s for my unused 14"s. They have something like a 30 day policy, but since it's just coils and you're local they might be into helping.

I found out I'd just need the main springs swapped out so even if I had to buy them it wouldn't be too much extra - thanks for the heads up.

my bad - is there a protective coating on them? And al doesn't rust, it corrodes :p but for our discussion it doesn't matter what the schmootz is - it's gonna be trapped in there out of sight anyway. Leave it dirty!
