Here is some progress on my friend and Mines endeavors to get rid of our weak steering. Granted we mainly use our trucks rock crawling, but our racks mixed with 37s do not have the power we want. We are going to limit the ram to 6inches of throw to match the stock steering limit. Clearance is very tight but manageable.

Full hydro isnt the best option for faster speed trucks, I built swing steering with a Saginaw box and Hydro ram

funny i saw your thread on tundras.com.... been meaning to talk with you on it. The 2nd/3rd gen tundras have so little space not sure how to attack this problem. I spoke with Howe racing and they were like yeah no we cant help you LOL

so we may need to come up with something together. Id love to build a kit for guys to upgrade their steering. I mean a factory rack plus labor is around 3k to have it replaced by toyota. im sure we could build something for less as an option for an upgrade. feel free to PM me here or on tundras.com and we could discuss. you are in SD as am I we could always grab a beer and talk shop/

We can definitely talk. I'm in the Fallbrook area.

I doubt the second gen could be any harder that this first gen was. Everything was in the way. Even had to reroute the exhaust. I'm sure we can figure out a way.

Agreed. Thankfully we don't go that quick. However we got self centering orbital valves which will help a lot

I've driven trucks with those valves, pretty amazing. You even get some road feedback. And its false that you loose steering if you lose power. You'd have to blow a line to actually lose steering. I really considered going that way. Would have been so much easier!

Anyone running a +3.5 LT kit with SOA in the rear? I've got the Vagabond Drifter so I can't run glass in the rear and won't do a bed cage. I'm happy to get some 14" triples w/ remote resis in the rear but thats as bbig as I can go in the rear. I could go SUA but I worry about the weight with a full interior build out + extended range gas tank + swing out + 37s. I'm wondering if I should just go +2 up front.

What's funny is I'll only have $1350 into the setup.

ill say tacoms and tundras are a bit different, but i ran TC LT front and midtravel SOA rear for a year and it was great. i think SUA with that kinda bed weight will be really tough to deal with

Thanks for the feedback and I agree on SUA. TC 3.5 kit it is then a Tundra width Currie 9" later this year along with boxing the rear frame with the DMZ kit and Archive hangers + shock relo kit to fit the 14" King triples.

that a hell of a setup! im sure you will be happy. boxing my frame is about the last thing i have left frame and suspension wise. I have all my dimple plate, just waiting for a few weeks of down time for the truck to pull the gastank and skid and get under it and weld in some plate

That's awesome, I'm about $2K into mine, and that's all new parts from PSC. TC pump, saginaw box, ram, reservoir.

I know this is kinda not a long travel question but a couple weeks ago I f’d up my truck real bad and rolled it on it’s side and everything seems fine and I was able to get it back aligned but when I go over a speedbump a little quicker or like take a sharp turn into a little drop at an angle I get a MAD loud popping noise that almost feels like it’s on both sides but it’s definitely worse on the right. When I tried figuring it out I went pretty ham on my steering jerking it either side pretty quick and nothing so any guessers? Haha I just hope it’s not steering because I am just about to replace everything for solo lt! I also have 4wd so that could have been f’d up a little but it’s only when I go over bumps pretty fast or divots at sharp angles so idk haha thanks y’all!B0BC48D2-8F71-44A9-99C9-436B84CEC892.jpg

I was actually thinking about that too but I can almost feel it like in the gas pedal like its something to do with the suspension. Like it doesn’t just make a noise it can be felt through the wheel and the pedal idk hah
