Those who have installed the DMZ kit. At full bump, do your shackles touch the back edge of the "cradle" portion of the hanger? Also did you guys reroute any wiring to allow more clearance at full bump. I am concerned that at full bump the wiring harness for the wheel sensors and the e-locker is going to end up getting caught on something and ripped apart.

I had something somewhat similar happen to me a few years back. I had been driving on a torn boot for prob close to a year (yeah, i know shame on me). First time I was making a turn at low speed and the truck jerked real hard (as if almost stalling it) and popped out of gear. I put it back in gear and drive fine. Then it did it again on the freeway, 60mph, left hand turn and the whole truck started shaking violently. I pushed in the clutch and straightened out and it went away, and totally fine after that.

When I looked at everything, nothing looked out of place at all. I ended up replacing the CV/axle and the CSB (which was very worn as well, third one). Never had an issue again after that. I came to the conclusion that one, or both, was binding up under certain loads and essentially "wobbling" in the slack from being worn.

Yes at full bump it will hit the cradle. I limited the bump so that doesn’t happen.
Also moved a few wires during the install but nothing major, was all very minor adjustments.

So with mine it looks like I would have to limit the bump a couple inches keep it from touching. At that point I am losing a nice chunk of my up travel.

Got any pics at bump? I know the shackle was close at bump and droop to hitting he hangar, that’s where I set limit straps at droop, but don’t remember having to set bumps for that. Axle should be able to almost hit the frame.

I can take some tonight. I have it set so my bump plate and top of ubolts are about 1/2" from the frame. The shackle starts to touch the cradle at about 1.5"-2" from full bump.

At full droop the shackle hitting the cradle is the limiting point. I will set the limit straps to keep that from happening per Tim's instructions. Right now, full bump to full droop is dead on the stated 17" of travel claimed by the kit. Its actually 18" metal to metal but I am giving about 1/2" on either end for insurance.

It’s been awhile, but I think I was more worried about the axle hitting the frame than the shackles getting In the way. You have pics?

Just got a response back from Tim and he said it shouldn't touch at all at full bump. He said it gets close but still clears and thinks I misplaced the rear hanger. Looks like more cutting and measuring for me. :sawzall::welder:

Repainting my taco... what color do y’all reccomend? Keep desert heat and longevity in mind. I love black but is it worth?
I’m considering black, white, or magnetic grey
    What do y’all prefer

    Are you repainting yourself?

    What is the factory color?

Black and white will both present challenges during the painting process . Black shows bodywork/imperfections more, white will show dust / hair more if spraying outside a booth. If painting black with a clear coat you can sand / buff out most of the contaminants during painting.

That being said darker colors are harder to keep looking nice if you use your truck, grey may be a good middleground.

I’m getting it painted by Maaco cause they’re doing my body work so I won’t have to deal with the process but the original color was black sand pearl and I love it but I just don’t know if I want to change it up or not... it’s a hard decision cause having black the truck always looked dirty but it looked so sleek murdered out. I like how white hides scratches and it doesn’t look dirty but IMO I think it looks less badass than black. So it’s kind of a compromise between looks and function for the two colors

While I have never heard anything good about Maacos paintjobs nor their bodywork, If you beat on it pretty hard I guess it maybe a budget wise decision. I personally would go with black in your case, as Im going to wager maaco isnt planning on touching door sills / engine compartment. A white exterior would make those look weird in black.

For those that have done a cage, what’s the go to for sound deadening material? I’ve always heard of Dynamat but is there other options or anything better? Gonna want to put something in when I do my cage to keep road noise somewhat limited.

    Thanks
