Thanks. Mostly means I keep a shelf of spare tail lights...

Next month I'll have my bender running, and will just solve the problem permanently.

I am already thinking of copying him. Truck is torn apart already and I have a bunch of tubing scraps from the bedcage, frame cross members, and the leaf spring hanger reinforcements.

Been trying to fix things little by little. This damn 4wd is killing me.only real issue I'm having. Other than some rear end gear whine...Plus always trying to add more to our trucks. #neverendingprojects

one axle looks to of popped out again after solo just fixed the issue.(only drove2 mile test drive) stuck it in 4wd and found the issue. But then the other axle doesn't engage at the hub but in the diff it does.havent pulled it apart yet. So not sure what's going on. The whole reason the truck has been down for 5 months lol.

Ah man that sucks!...what axles are they? Is it a conversion dana44 setup like the newer solo stuff? Or Toyota unit bearing manual hub? I've had a diff side axle retaining circlip break because I overlooked limitstrap stretch and it over extended and exploded... was a pain in the ass pulling the broken pieces out of the diff...

Yea the d44 ones. It's the first gen XLT kit. I'll get it figured out and rip the truck around one day

You know every time you post a picture of those tail lights we're all over here like . I was showing my CHP buddy these asking the legality. He said since they're technically not DOT approved tail lights you could run into an issue. But you wouldn't get pulled over for that. Lack of reflectors could or lack of mudflaps will get you pulled over. That said we both are going to look into some sort of build like this in the future.

Seriously! I want to build a set as well. Cost of the lights is about the same as 2 sets of Chinese knock off oem ones plus a little bit of steel and time. This is going to be an awesome solution for those that want a better tail light.

Yeah, Utah doesn't have anything in there code/law that would cause issues with something like this but they do refer to the USDOT regulations which require reflectors.

Soo the reflector thing...could I use that reflector tape on the aluminum panel directly behind the lights? I know were talking technically here lol

If they want to pull you over they will find a reason, there are so many blanket vehicle codes in California. With a truck like @Basikbiker if they want to pull you over they will. Stock taillights won’t stop that.

Yea I know that, last time i got pulled over the cop asked if he could take a picture to show his buddy what toyotas should look like lol. Seriously tho you see dudes in beat up crawlers drivin around or sketch hoopty ass cars. I dont speed or drive crazy on the road in it I just cruise. Cops know u have a pile of money in these things and the more you "attempt" to bide by the law the more lenient they usually are I've found.... unless there's that one guy who is havin a bad day lol

Exactly. Don't drive like an idiot, follow the rules, stop when the cop says stop. Any attempt we can make to have our trucks look legal while driving is one less thing to get pulled over for. Funny thing about you being pulled over for pictures...that's how I met my CHP buddy.. followed me to work in his cruiser.
