If you're that deep I would just make the horizontal plates.

For sure. That’s what I was thinking

I had seen someone in here post something similar a couple years back and told myself I’d do that as a preventative upgrade when I did the Cam tab gussets but totally spaced on it when the time came

Right now i have the Solo UCA gusset and motor mounts ready to go on and to me it seemed that made the LCA the weakest link. This kit or whatever you want to call it seems to be just as much about reinforcing the mounting location while also wrapping around gusseting cam tabs. Better safe then sorry and buy once and all that stuff

I can def see that. I got some LCA gussets I still need to install from dirt designs that are braced around my cam tabs. I like the gusseting design of this though to where I wouldnt mind developing something homemade to achieve similar.

I remember talking to a couple of guys that said quite quickly with heavy romping off-road those LCA ears start to tear from the frame so these seem super intelligent design and upgrade imo

I got the idea for the need from the infamous tan first gen with his gusseted LCA cam tabs and figured that would be needed for the long haul at some point.

I dont think the Marlin crawler will fit with other tab kits so if you factory tabs a bent you either need to bend them back or go with another option. See in the image below how the Marlin kit wraps around the factory tabs

What if I already have aftermarket Cam Tab Gussets?

If you already have aftermarket 1/4" thick cam tab gussets installed, then simply shave 1/8" off our Uprights and install to your frame like normal.

Sure you can grind or cut just about anything to make it fit. They definitely didn't design it to accommodate pre-installed gussets though. Per Marlin Crawler:

"That's it! No grinding required. No jack stands required. No suspension disassembly required. Just weld-on and go!"

Both of our quotes came from the same person.

    The point is
    If you have factory
    Or modified cam tabs
This kit can still be useful and beneficial to anyone procifient enough to use a grinder and a welder

who here has damaged anything other than the the tabs? why do we need such a crazy kit.

If you have the current gussets just run with them, why add this contraption to them? if you dont, now you have options.

we keep adding weight to our trucks that then requires adding more weight to support that weight that will in turn require more weight to support that and next thing you know you will be chopping your truck in half and sitting it in a shop for two years trying to put a dana80 in the back :anonymous:

I know of some guys who have cracks down in the LCA areas before they did some additional gusseting. Takes the right kind of wheeling for these to take place, but with the recommended gussets...whats another 5-10 pounds in metal?

With 3 in my family off roading we carry more in make-up, underwear and snack than the weight of these gussets will add. Well worth the protection. I've smacked that front lower tab directly before and have added a gusset to that area. I'll be cutting those off and going with this laser cut 1/4" gusset.

I got a crack in one of mine and I know I don't push my truck as hard as some. I now have reinforcements from dirt designs that support the LCA mounts. Not the same as the Marlin kit but similar idea.

I think that @MonkeyProof or @tetten both can show you why you may want this. Think they both used the dirt design gussets.

Its funny I saw Dirt Designs post in the Marlin thread they other day. Looks like a lot of Marlins patented stuff (LCA brace and RCHDLT kit) are heavily based on stuff dirt designs gussets and LT kit.
