The shocks through the bed are a definite limiting factor, but otherwise the DMZ kit gives you OEM weight capacity.

I ended up with a custom pack based on the f150 raptor because my truck is a fat pig, and I didn't want to do links.

I talked to a ford / full size prerunner shop and the guy that runs it said a customer had them install raptor leaves on a 2nd gen taco and it got over 20" of travel after removing a couple leaves to get proper ride height. The shop does expensive work, but idk if it is super knowledgeable when it comes to making geometry and performance dialed in like a lot of shops that run race teams.

Isn’t that pretty much like saying you don’t want the hot chick ? or an 8” penis for the hot chick ?

With the right shackle setup I believe this.

I kept mine spring over, and am pulling 13" of travel, with 2000# cargo capacity in the bed.

    Basically.

Links are in the Danger Zone on the hot/crazy matrix, so I'm mostly okay with it.

Good call. I always pressure wash them the best I can but likely need to just remove them, break them down and service the entire pack. I can run a straight edge over them too to see if I get any warping. Did notice I lost a few friction pads recently. oops.

I use my truck as a truck all the time. Thats what is nice about having a low profile bed cage. I can place 4x8 sheets of plywood on the top of the cage and then the other half over the tailgate. I use my cage as tie-down points for the front, and then I have some L-track installed in the bed to secure the rest. It is pretty versatile.

I had someone asking about the Ford leafs. Are the raptor leafs 3" wide like the normal faeries??
This raptor leaf set up is interesting. I think there is some advantages staying SOA vs SUA especially in bump but I could be wrong? What did that shop do for shackles and set up to get the #s they are pushing?

The leaf pack is 3", about 3&3/8 with bushings, standard Ford.

The SOA pack has less bump travel, but more droop travel (for the same total travel number) but it also has better ground clearance. And I could get a Camburg Racing shackle for it, so all I had to do was build a custom shackle hanger.

Is the shackle set up like stock Tacoma or flipped?

Like the taco, it's an inverted shackle.

I had to move the shackle hanger forward after I took this picture, but you get the idea.

If it's a deaver pack they'll sell you the pads. I picked up a bunch for I think 25c each.

So thinking about it, they were telling me about a sua setup they must have made with custom hangers that they customized again to put on the taco frame.

Any advice when ordering L track - thinking about getting three rows - two on the sides and one in the center running along the length of my bed.

I would just measure the width of your bed rows to make sure the L-track can sit flush. They have all different kinds at uscargo control.

On 2nd gens the airline style aluminum is too wide to go between the ridges. I ended up just cutting it to pieces and running it along the tire flairs and storage cubbies.

Has anyone used the inner CV Joint from a 100 Series Land Cruiser? It's a 6 ball plunging joint, 105 mm OD. Inner stub is 30 spline and all dimensions of the stub appear to be the same as the Tacoma unit. So it should pop right into the 8" front differential. The inner race of this CV Joint takes a 30 spline shaft, so plenty of options.
