You can ruin your brakes like that, the only thing holding the wheel in will be the caliper and outer pad which will begin to over heat and cause brake fade. The only other person I've known who tried to drive home without a CV was driving down a mountain and had to stop and call a tow truck, he said he could barely stop his truck before he finally gave up.

So back to Marlin’s $10k kit that won’t let you freewheel - I guess a prerunner hub isn’t a bad investment for in case the s hits the f.

The hub is still a pressed together assembly and would have to start pulling itself apart before you should be in any real danger. That said I don’t condone what I did, and after I learned about it I don’t think I’d do it again unless it was an emergency.

I haven't seen a grenaded front diff. If anyone has, please share. I'm more inclined to carry a front spare axle to be able to continue on my trip or leave the trail. Some/most cases call for 4wd so having 2wd might be able to get you out, but not guaranteed getting off of a trail.

I have - ain’t pretty. A spare axle and a spare hub if you’re not running ff hubs wouldn’t be a bad idea.

Hes currently up and walking with a walker, able to walk a little without it. Appears to have full memory and is talking up a storm after being in the coma. He is going home today from the facility hes at right now.

@tetten wrecked his front diff. I carry a spare CV and 4wd hub but like the idea of 2wd hubs as well. A lot more compact. But yeah, more likely to pop a cv than the whole diff and every situation is different so just something to keep in mind if the need ever arises

Yea he's been making great progress. Super stoked for him and his family. He's still got a long road to recovery but things have been moving in a positive direction
Thank you guys again for all the support...With the shirt sales we were able to generate an additional $5,000 for the gofundme in like a week! the offroad community is bad ass!

Two aluminum collars found on larger king coilovers. What’s the deal with moving them? Bottom spins freely, top seems to be lock tited in place? Obviously some sort of spanner fits them and they would be easier to move without the coils on, but is there anything I’m missing?

Edit: the silver aluminum collars inside the coils
