Damn, those are even pricier, perhaps just replacing them every other year is the way to go, for the lowers anyways. I do want to try them though, you know, for science.

Everything about that makes me want to make my own except without scrap in all the right sizes, it might not be cheaper than their price.

I am dumb, it doesn't even come in a small enough size to work on Tacoma shocks. Well I guess you could do the same with your sockets and some all threads.

FYI for those looking to buy your own, I sell COM10T as a set with coated C clips.

TW10 for 10% off is still valid.

A set of press-cups from harbor freight and a grade 8 bolt would probably do it.
Use grade 8, not all thread, and it would be easy to do with some sockets.

I’ve just used sockets and a vice. Maybe a little heat. Never had issues with that method.

I understand your pain on that level, next time we do ball joints on our class 9 I'll get some pics of our homemade tools.

Also there is nothing more terrifying than pressing out 50+ year old rusted in VW ball joints.....

Wasn’t the point to leave the arms on the truck? Do you remove your vice from the bench? :p:D

Didn’t know that’s what you were going for. Anytime I’ve done that sort of maintenance I’ve had the arms off for more

Yeah it was the agm $150 out the door uniball tool - I like @Arcticelf 's idea to turn an HF ball joint tool kit into one - that said the more I thought about it, I think you'd probably consider doing extra maintenance when it's time like you said and just take the arms off.

Yeah I was thinking about that. I’d only need one or two sizes which now seeing the two sizes I’d need would total $300+ I’ll definitely make them seeing how the raw materials would cost less than half.

How do you break a uniball on the trail? They definitely wear out, and not pulling the arms off the truck, especially the UCA, would be nice; but I can't imagine how you'd need to do one on the trail.

I can’t remember what I was watching or reading but I came across that happening lately too.

@Jerez didnt break a uniball. The snap ring popped out of the cup then his uniball decided to make an exit from the cup also....which left him stranded. Pretty sure @MonkeyProof went up and bailed him out.

Okay, that I can absolutely see. I keep a spare ball+ clip in the truck, but mostly out of paranoia.

Took me 15 mins to be on the road again after being there for hours

Something like this also happened to one of TW moderators @mjp2 (?) during a MDR race that he was entered in years ago out in Barstow. Only made it to RM 13 or something like that as I recall
